Further to posting a couple of weeks ago regarding replacement video card, just seeking some confirmation that my 8800GT is on its way out.

Symptons as follows:
Works okay for light use - Internet, Email but running any graphics intensive app (last night it was Fallout 3) get a lockup with scrambled graphics frozen on the screen. Best described as colour ghosting (psychedlic?), pixellated and watery looking. Unable to soft reboot requires hard reboot and on at least one occasion pressing the reset button had the video feed cycling between analogue and digital.

I had already rolled back the drivers having read on other fora there has been an issue with the latest version causing the cards to run hot. Will take the card out and clean/re-seat it but when I last opened the case there wasn't much dust in evidence.

So really just looking for affirmation that the card is likely foobared then I can send those nice people from OCUK an order for a new one.

Sounds fubar'd to be honest.

[edit]
RMA it though, BFG have a 10 year warranty and you might even get an upgrade :)

Well I've taken the plunge and ordered the 5770. It's a bit of an upgrade anyway (so far as I can tell) and it supports OCUK (keep the Dons in spaghetti...). The 8800 can go to the IT graveyard in the garage...

Still worth an e-mail to BFG - If it is in warranty you can always sell the new card or keep for physx / a spare.

Enjoy your new 5770 :D
