Turbo gone?

This exact thing happened to a guy in front of me about 6 months ago. This car came screaming up the inside lane, shot across in front of me at the last possible second as I and some other cars were overtaking a car on the inside lane. Then just as he went to pull back into the inside lane, to continue his assault on decency, a huge plume of white smoke came billowing out of his car completely consuming myself and a couple of cars behind me.

All I could see then was him slowly drifting into the distance. Oh that was a good day indeed.

Carma?

turns out it was a blown turbo, there was oil all over the turbo when they took it out.

Good luck with the new turbo. Is the dealer giving you any warranty?

How long have you had the car? Is it high mileage, or is it normal for these turbos to blow?

just bought it last week private off a trade seller from autotrader, 72k mileage. fsh. 2 owners. checked service with dealers before we bought it via phone, hpi clear. 02 plate.

the oil pump/filter was clogged/siezed and the car was making a very loud noise as no oil was getting to the top of the engine. this was fixed by putting in new oil pump. about 10 minutes after getting this fixed, driving the car the turbo blew.

apparently the dealers change the oil every 20,000 miles which is disgusting tbh.

The oil pump cost £100, labour was free for that as my dad has a garage, £250 for the recond turbo plus labour as we had to hire someone to take the old turbo apart. Labour will probably cost £50-100. Depends if they need the same person tomorrow to put the recond turbo back in.

The oil pickup in the 1.8t likes to clog up, its exactly what caused me to breakdown half way round the Nurburgring, about 5k later my turbo went pop.

Hope its all fixed for you, should work out cheap enough in the end.

Is it def turbo? Blown turbos are usually blue smoke due to oil........

def blown, the pipe was broken too, just about managed to get it free plus oil everywhere.

bought the car for £2160 with tax n mot, so far working out to be 2510. probably 2550- 2600 all in when we pay that guy.

I showed my dad this image:

top is k03s, dad confirmed mine is the top one said he'll match it up with the recond one so its the right one.

you cant put that muffler on a normal k03 can you?

What is your issue, B&W? You appear to have some sort of underlying issue with virtually everybody here, so why not come out with it rather than acting like the hard man behind your screen?
