Home Xbox 360 repair, lacking some internals!

I bought a second hand xbox off ebay last year and it has started doing the occasional unreadable disc error. My games are getting circular scratches on them too. I'd read up about the magnet on the DVD drive sometimes coming loose which causes this error so thought i'd see if i could fix it myself. Well it appears someone has already been inside it as when it came to removing the DVD drive there were no screws holding it in place. My magnet looked fine so i can only assume the DVD drive not being secure is what is causing the errors.

I know this is a bit of a long shot but does anyone know the type of screws i need to secure it?

DVD drive is not screwed down anyway. The case screws go through it and hold it in place when everything's back together.

Do you know which make the drive is it's only some that have the magnet issue mostly Hitachis.

Why not just buy a new drive you can pick them up for under £20

Ah i didnt realise that, the guide i read made it sound like i should have unscrewed something. Wonder why its playing up then :confused:

Its a hitachi but i cant see how the magnet would come loose as its quite secure in a plastic enclosure. Might have to do that.
