... would you visit the UK?

Completely random question, but one that has just entered my mind after speaking to a few online friends. None of them have any intention of visiting, as they see no point visiting here... to quote one of them 'the thought never entered my mind'.

Is there anything that makes the UK unique? I know we have London, which is a major financial hub and capital, but if I was visiting a capital or a major city, I'd pick plenty of other places over it e.g. Paris.

I suppose we also have some nice countryside, but again, it doesn't seem to be unique. Maybe it's just because we are a relatively small country with a reputation for bad weather. I don't know.

What do you guys think?

Probably not, no real culture to speak of, for architecture and history I would go elsewhere, for art I would go elsewhere and for climate I would go elsewhere.

Where are your online friends from? America? In which case most of them don't leave their country.

From my understanding the UK is one of the most visited countries in europe (possibly after Spain) for North Americans and Asians, although normally they seem to do more of a european tour.

As for the question, yeah I would, due to the culture, history and architecture, which is some of the best in the world.

Several of my american friends have either visited or expressed an interest in visiting the UK. We tend to ignore the history we are literally surrounded by. Living near Chester for example I tend to mostly gloss over how much there is for a tourist to see.

It should be 'you were' ? I'm tired, that's my excuse.

hehe yeh.

Normally I don't say squat about peoples english because mine is pretty terrible...but 'was' instead of 'were' is one thing that bugs me. Kinda if I hear someone say it in real life I HAVE to correct them, regardless if I know them or not :p

Shocking.
Put down the crack pipe lad !!!

I can't see people wanting to go to anywhere but London or Edinburgh (or parts of wales/lakes/scotland for mountains, etc) really...

everywhere else is just a place to live, like everywhere... the US... only 3 places get visited really?... nyc/cali/florida

Eh?????

Man some people have no clue what other parts of the county have. Maybe have a read on the tourist board before saying such rubbish.

The sad thing is, I typed out 'you were' before deciding against it.

Ah well.

Well for a small country with bad weather we are doing well being the 6th most visited country in the world for tourism with 30million visitors a year. And London only slightly behind Paris as the most visited City in the world.
