All over the world...
Right my brother in his infinite wisdom has decided to buy some headphones but not just your ordinary run of the mill headphones. He wants to buy those Dr Dre Studio powered headphones which sell for over £250:eek::eek:.

Now dont ask me why but i have said to him that there are more cheaper and just as good headphones out there but meh he wants them but doesnt want to spend £250+....which i suppose is fair enough.

Now ive had a look around and the cheapest ive seen them is around £230ish which isnt too bad but he wants them cheaper...told him that my google skills are a bit lacking so thought id try here and see what the good folk here can come up with.

Obviously it has to be a reputable online retailer or a reputable ebay seller.

So OCUK do your worst or should i say your best:D:D.

And please dont explain to me why he should go for another pair...this is what he wants simple as...i spent over an hr convincing him otherwise...but reading reviews of the said headphones....they seem pretty decent...i just couldnt justify spending that much on a pair of headphones myself:p

You'd have to be retarded to buy those 'Dre Dre' pieces of crap, they're worth about £10.

You'd get a better result with string and tin cans.

'Dr Dre' in the name is the only reason they're so expensive.

Probably...dont get me wrong im love Dre's music but like hell im gonna pay over £250 for them

Really??...have you even listened to them??...reviews seem pretty favourable though.

Anyhow funny how you just ignored my OP and decided to come in here and slate them without even answering my question...

If he wants £250 headphones but... doesn't want to pay £250 (or even 230) then maybe he should, you know, buy cheaper headphones :p

Hey ive tried to tell him but hes got more money than sense...have to admit they are pretty nice headphones though so i can see why he wants them.

last time i heard they are supposed to be very good. where did you hear this?

But would they be better than AKG K701s or HD650s etc. etc.?

I think he could very likely spend less and get more, even though some reviews of the Dre cans are quite good. Do the Dre's need an amp/benefit from one greatly? That's something else well worth considering.

Funnily enough from what ive been reading...a lot of people like them albeit the price tag somewhat kills it for them but have heard plenty of good things about them...biggest negative seems to be the price of them

They're actually not that bad, but should cost £50-100 not £250.

£199.99 is the cheapest I can find them.

Is that with a place called crazycameras.co.uk??...if so ive done some research and they seem to be a scam site...although rung them up and they say they are based in the phillipines:confused:

how about signing up to quidco or topcashback? if hes that determined to buy them, perhaps a merchant on there will sell them and he can get some cah back?

They're not a scam site, they just aren't very good customer service wise and often sell grey imports IIRC.

He's going to pay at least £220 from a good retailer (iHeadphones).

are they better than my 650's? probably not. but they are not in any way £10 piece's of crap LOL

I have, they're ok but not nearly as good as the Beyerdynamic DT770Pro which are £130.

Ugly though:p

Anyhow like i said they arent for me...they are for my brother who as i said has more money than sense and personally if he wants to spend that much on a pair of headphones then its his choice.

So if anyone can list websites etc it would be much appreciated.

Hmmm yes that seems like the cheapest i keep coming up with...the other site i mentioned...havent heard many good things about them but they were being offered for £190 which was cheap but kinda set alarm bells ringing so didnt mention it to my brother...in case he ordered then found out that they werent even the real deal.

If he has more money than sense and he's willing to in effect pay £100 or more just for a name, then why does it matter whether he pays £220 or £250?

But that's just it - they're 'pretty good sounding' but 'not worth the cost'. At half the price they'd be more worth it i'd imagine... they'd probably then get reviews that say 'pretty good sounding' and 'good value' too!

TBH, assuming they perform similarly to something like a Sennheiser 595 i'd either save my money and get that @ £80 - £100 or pick up something higher end like a set of Sennheiser HD650's for similar money to these Dr Dre's.

They kind of remind me of Skullcandy's approach - a lot of style but not very much substance.

How the hell should i know:confused:...its his money so let him spend it as he wishes....im not his keeper so as much as i think its stupid spending that much money on a pair of headphones...who am i to tell him otherwise when ive spent in the past quite a bit of money on stupid stuff.

Obviously i dont know but reading more reviews and seeing that most review sites are giving these headphones 4 or 5 stars...it must mean they are pretty damn good.

Anyhow found a place online thats doing them for £220 so hes ordered from there...am gonna have a try of these when he gets them as i want to see what all the hype is about them.
