Is this a gfx problem?

I have just finished building a new system with an i5 overclocked to 4Ghz bundle. I have an ATI 5850 as the gfx card. I left my machine running last night to download dirt2 from steam. There was no issues all night running for 10 hours. Temperatures were 40 max. Now when I run dirt2 it crashes before the intro screens are done. Flight Sim X crashes constantly, 3DMark demos crash. What on earth would be wrong? It seems like everything is fine until gfx card gets under a load. Does this sound like a wonky card? I have installed 10.1 catalyst drivers. Really getting annoyed with this!

I updated all directx yesterday. I am now using the stock profile at 2.66Ghz and Dirt2 performance is rubbish then it crashes and reboots. Any checks I can do to determine problem?

Have you checked for errors in windows event viewer?
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer

What temperatures are the CPU and GPU getting to when under load?

Sounds like you asking to much of the system Before you have set it up properly.
Post Full Specs for starters & if I was you I would rebuild it but do it properly this time applying a little patience to yourself as you do it.

Nothing in event viewer at all except critical errors about unexpected shutdowns but no info is given.

Temps so far have reached 65 max for CPU and maybe 40 for gfx card.

Spec:

i5 750 2.66 oc to 4Ghz
4GB Corsair RAM
H50 Water cooler
Powercolor ATI 5850

What did I say that suggested I didn't build it properly and without patience? I received the stuff on wednesday so I think thats fairly patient posting this morning. The mobo came with CPU and RAM installed already so it was just a matter of sticking it in and wiring everything up.

Just presumption I'm afraid & experience, Didn't mean to cause no offence though mate so Apologys. :)

I should add that I've been building/modding/tweaking for yours & Still make stupid mistakes in that Rush to get my new system up & running.

None taken! It is my first proper build so made sure to try and take my time with it.

I have been on with OCUK who got me to do a memtest. No issues with it so going to try some GPU stress tests to see if it would be the problem.

Any other ideas?

Furmark is causing crashes and restarts all over the place so card has been sent back for RMA. Going to have to do without it for a few days!
