Does Mass Effect 2 have bad framerate?

It's very very much improved over the first game. Even loading times are cut down, Bioware really have worked some magic this time. considering the improved visuals

Frame rate is rock steady 30fps all the time (think i seen it drop once or twice, but that was for a split second).

Combat is way way better. Never really got into ME1, but im loving ME2 atm. Clocked 20hrs so far and i haven't even been to the Citadel yet!

It's ridiculous, I've clocked up 7 hours and haven't even got everyone in the squad yet.

Only thing I don't like is the loading screens, there's no indication of how far along it is.

Game ran very smooth for me all the way through untill the big boss at the end I noticed fps drop quite abit, other than that no problems at all.

Bear in mind that the cruz of the game IS the squad recruitment and loyalty missions. Don't expect an epic finale, as it's over pretty quickly once you start the 'end game'. Just take your time and enjoy the recruitment and loyalty missions.

This kind of ruined the game for me. I expected to get the squad and make them loyal as side missions to the main campaign.

If I have started the "Stop the collectors" mission where you first encounter the Collectors themselves, does this mean I am now stuck in the story line from here? Or will I still get to go exploring, and do other missions, etc?

You are free to do what you like up until you use the 'Omega 4 Relay' :)

That's a shame. From what I gather, they made a big deal of the fact the game was like this when doing all the promotion gumpf. That's fine if you follow that stuff, but I tend to shy away from it all so that I don't see spoilers (from trailers, videos etc) during the run up to release.

Luckily I'd spotted a forum post (similar to mine above) at the start of the game so I played most of it knowing that the recruiting and loyalty stuff is essentially what the game is about; aside from the 'end game' mission. It all kind of builds up to that point, rather than than having an epic and long campaign isolated from the character based stuff.
