Within 5 minutes of putting it in, churning noises and 'Walla!' out pops a hot, fresh, circularly scratched Bayonetta disk.

I'm not a regular console player anymore, so I will admit I did the following with no clue or shame - I *very gently* moved the X-Box from the horizontal to upright position whilst the game was still spinning. I know, I know, foolish... but hindsight is a brilliant thing.

Now from reading other threads it seems my best bet is to head over to a certain well known high street gaming outlet ending in 'ation' and have them repair it for a megre £5.

Anyone else got any bright ideas? I'm just so annoyed right now as it's an easy mistake to make but oh so costly. Cheers.

Oh, and I don't have the receipt.

Working at purple, if you bought it from us, just go back and say the disk was like that when you put it in the machine and they will swap it for you. If you was close by id happily do it for you.

Do this.

And don't move your 360 while the disc is spinning! :p

Quick hijack - my new elite has given the 'insert this disc in an xbox console' (or whatever) a few days ago. Only did it once with Gow2 - disc is in poor condition and console will sometimes not boot with it in the drive (play off hdd anyway so only needs to be in to verify). Hasn't done anything similiar with any other games, could this be purely down to the poor disc or something else?

Blockbuster do the disk repair service at £2 and use the same machine as all the other high street stores, do you have one around?

I got mine done at blockbusters, got it back and it looked brand new :)

I to turned the 360 the day i got it with a disk still spinning :(
