Hey All,

Looking to purchase a car soon, looking at the new Fiesta's at the moment - but can't make my mind up about 3 and 5 door... 5 door seems more convenient but doesn't look as appealing as the 3 door versions.

Are there any other benefits to 3/5 doors?

What are your opinions?

Do you often use the back seats? If yes, then go for the 5 door, or live with the slight inconvenience of the 3 door. The 3 door looks much better than the 5 door IMO.

3 door looks better

5 door is more practical

choose whichever you want/need. 3 door all the way for me but i dont have kids and dont care about the inconvenience of getting in the back since it wont ever be me doing so :p

Will you be purchasing brand new? I'd be inclined to go for a 3 door, look miles better than a 5 door.

Does anyone know when the Fiesta ST will be released?

Around facelift, so ~2011/12

No wont be brand new - but a newer shape so 6-12months old (hopefully) - off to look tomorrow

Do yourself a favour matey and check dealers outside of Essex, Essex Ford dealers have amongst the highest prices in the country.

(I dont mean the Essex Auto Group but Dealers in Essex)

I'll never go back to owning anything less than a 4 door vehicle unless it has less than 3 seats.

They are just more useful, fact.

You guys harping on about 3 doors are neglecting the fact that this will be a Fiesta. It will be dull and poxy regardless of the number of doors it came with, so if you are resigning yourself to getting a fiesta, it might as well have better functionality.

However a 3dr fiesta looks 100x better than a 5 door. If you don't need or use the back seats on a weekly/monthly basis then what is the point of the 5 door?

3 dr, the doors are bigger, OAP's get in easier/ you have no child lock concerns and 3drs look better on small cars, its all a win!

Oh yes forgot from new 3dr is cheaper too :D

I have been looking around and Dagenham group and the other side of London are much better on prices!

Some travel will be required - cheers for your input all

Dagenham Motors in Plaistow are a popular choice in London. They always tell their customers to find the lowest price on a part/vehicle and they'll beat it.

Do look further out aswell! Our ex management cars which are sold at 5,000 or 6 months old are well checked, usually specced to the hilt (most option boxes are ticked as standard for management cars to increase value), and dealers get them for dead cheap, obviously with 2.5 years warranty remaining. Archers of Ashby just outside Leicester buys a lot of them as do the Allen Ford group. The dealer may change the number plates (not the reg, but the physical plate) because it saying Ford Motor Company at the bottom gives away that it's a Ford management vehicle.

Dont be afraid to venture further out for a better deal :)

I've just come from a 3 Door to a 5 Door car, I did so because we are expecting a child, and I wanted to make things as practical for my other half as possible.

That said, the practical advantages of having a 5 door, even now give the car a lot of purpose already.

Front doors are smaller, this makes exiting in tight spaces easier, this also makes them lighter - seems insignificant,, but I love it now.

Got a coat? No problem, chuck it in the back without having to smother your passenger with it as you fling it between the seats.

I often put my laptop bag behind my seat as its liable to get trodden on in the front, is a little less visible in the back, and no where near as much room for it to move about, this is also far more convenient with 5 doors.

If you've ever had a 3 door car you care about, you'll understand how painful it is watching people scrabble all over your car to get in and out, its even worse when someone inevitably trips on the seatbelt and puts your door into another car/lamp post/wall. Although, the view isn't always bad when dropping female friends off at the weekend ;)

Unless you're going for the Zetec S that looks particularly nice and sporty, I'd say go for the five door, its still a pretty car, just a lot more practical and cheaper to insure.

I had a 5 door courtesy car a few weeks ago and was quite impressed with it, an attractive car and the Zetec trim and up has loads of toys standard.
