Hey,

I wanna find out are Rowing Machines good for someone wanting to look at working on Abs and building a bit more mass on his body???

Yeh but doesnt rowing use all ya muscles?

There's nothing wrong with rowing machines. However it'd make more sense to build rowing into an overall workout plan - alongside weights & other forms of cardio...

Rowing machines on their own wont be great for the abs - I'd also be surprised if they'd build much muscle mass.

Without more info it's hard to say much more!

A good little diagram on the muscle groups you could be working can be seen here: http://concept2.co.uk/rower/muscle_groups

Rowing is a fantastic work out. I joined the gym in September 2008 and struggled to do any kind of cardio but stuck to rowing (7-10km/day for 5-6 months). I lost a lot of weight and gained a very decent level of fitness.

That's about the only benefit I got from them: gaining a decent level of fitness and getting a decent workout from them. You won't gain much muscle mass from only rowing.

if you want to gain mass then you need to:

train with weights
eat more
sleep well.

rowing, cycling, running etc etc will not build mass

Rowing is fantastic, but primarily hits your legs and back (if you're doing it properly). But as has already been mentioned, it's not exactly a mass-building excercise, it's more muscular endurance/cardio.
