All the guides i've found include a step that doesnt work on the current/newer versions of iTunes. "Convert to AAC" doesnt work anymore, or at least, i couldnt find it.

How do you do it?

Change song to 29 seconds long, create an AAC one (right click > create aac version), change original song length back, find the file, change extension to M4R.

The easiest way.
I must admit it did annoy me when I discovered you needed to use ringtone files, you've got this £600 phone and then they expect you to go out and spend a load more to get a range of decent ringtones? Idiots.

LOLiphone:p

Download audacity for free, open up the song in there, trim to to the length you want, export as M4A, change the extention to .m4r, add to itunes, sync with phone and set as ring tone!

LOL not a small price to pay for the actal POS phone though? locked down OS and lack of multitaksing = fail, oh and physical kb>virtual one. dont belive me? replace your laptop/desktop kb with a touch screen and comeback and tell me.

meh its reasonable tbh.

it gets abit silly... if you don't have a iphone then surely even posting in here is crazy. just my 2p

I take it by your user name you own WebOS pre ?, how do you live with the slowness of the device ?, those delays in everything it does would drive me nuts... not to mention the 'touch' screen that struggles to actually sense where you are touching ;) ...in the UK they make even less sense, want a nice app for news ?, your out of luck unless reading about the latest happenings in NYC is your thing.

every device out there has it ups and downs... doesn't make anyone who bought xyz device some kind of loser ?

it's cool to hate the iphone on the web, or so lots of people think, thats because it's popular.. and rightly so, it's a nice bit of kit to own, and from my own experience a lot nicer to use than a Pre for example (the only saving grace for this device at the moment is it fits nice in your handbag if you are so inclined ;), maybe that will change once they get the hardware and webos to work well together)

i moved form the iphone to the pre, couldnt be happier tbh. yes ill conceid it slow, but not as much as the 3G, and then again with all the themes and patched i have applied i guess it will be slow. though i find slowness on opening apps, but thats whats great, while one opens i can be on the other till its loaded. :)
