Hey guys,

I'm looking very strong at getting a Zune HD but I'm unsure of the support given I am in the UK and whether there are better devices for video and audio. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't be going Apple as I dislike iTunes so anything that works with WMP is great!

Thanks in advanced.

True but also I forgot to mention that I want to be able to drag-and-drop and the idea of converting my videos sounds like a pain. Atleast avi/mkv support for the Zune is coming in Spring.

Plus value wise I think the Zune is CHEAP!

I bought a Zune 120 for my wife about 9 months ago and have been hugely impressed. The software is awesome (mixview in nice - but the smartdj - through marketplace - is awesome!)

I would love to upgrade to the HD when funds permit - it's true that being in the UK makes things difficult, but as long as you are willing to put the effort in, it is posible to get it all working, and when it does it is amazing!

I know you said you were more interested in the hardware than the software, but the Zune player (pc software) really is something special, and really elevates the Zune above it's competitors (IMHO) - it's just a crying shame that MS are allowing other to catch up when they have such a great product, and they are dragging their heals releasing it here :(

Thank you for the response!

Doesn't the software simply sync with WMP, is there mnore to it?

From what I have seen you can get a Zune HD 32 GB from some websites for £200ish which I think sounds GREAT!

No - like (shudder/spit/cringe) itunes - the zune has it's own (considerably better) software that you can choose to use if you wish. Having bought the Zune 120 - I find I use the Zune player (software) on my PC to access Marketplace and use SmartDJ all the time (and very seldom actually use the physical player! You can synch your Zune with WMP or whatever else you choose - but it would be a real shame not to use the Sune software (if and only if you can access marketplace)

If you do decide to go this route, drop me a line and I'll talk you through the trauma of MS Marketplace - it's hard to set up - but a joy once it's going!

I doubt the HD radio function will be any use here as i believe that's the US version of DAB...?

Not sure how well the marketplace will function for you either being unnsupported in Europe.

This player isn't officially released in the UK so it will be an import from the US...used the site before?

Perhaps have a search and see if anybody else has imported one

As above really - the Zune software is brilliant - but does take some setting up - if you do decide to go for it drop me a line and I'll email you some links to get you started.

I should be buying this mp3 in the next few days from - http://www.crazycameras.co.uk/zune-hd-32-gb-video-mp3-player-platinum-product_100410.html

Is there anything I should know before hand, I'm going to be using it in the UK so any advise if good advise.

The only thing you should know really is that that Crazy Cameras place is very dodgy. I was so close to buying a Zune HD and googled about the place, any found a huge thread of people ranting about how they didn't get their stuff through. I looked at that place because of it's low price but it seems the best way to get a HD is if you have a mate over in the States that will get it and post it over here.

EDIT: Whoops a little late posting there wasn't I :p

I've not found anywhere that actually sells this Device at a decent pric and seems good! Please if someone knows somewhere please state!

Send an email to your trust but it should be here tomorrow so was wondering if you could please email me the stuff :D.

Hmmm... had an issue with your gmail account - think it was the attachment that caused your server to reject it so I have re-sent the email without the attachment - let me know if it gets though and if you need any more help!

Could you drop me an email re setting up Zune software in the UK? I tried to sign up for a US account once and failed, then gave up so I just use it to sync normally, and I feel I'm missing out!

This man is Legend! Thanks you made it suck an easy process.

I have further questions though:

Been using my Zune and so far I am impressed, I just have a few questions:

Does anyone find that the headphone socket is too close to the USB port? I can't take the cable out if my headphones are in ...

Any suggestions on a video converter that will automatically sync the files to the Zune?

My laptop believs it is in the US and not the UK like before, ofcourse switching back removes marketplace, etc. Will this affect any other software by beuing the US rather than the UK?

Thanks in advance.
