Koala I believe the 100M is across all platforms. 16.8 million is on the PC alone.
I never tried to say that there isn't a market for PC games, I am relying on it as I would hate to end up developing games on consoles, PC gaming is the world I grew up in and what I've always wanted to develop games on.
There are a lot of areas where console games will never be able to take over from PC games, RTS games are one of them. Just look at how bad that RTS halo was on the 360.
I was simply pointing out that the console market is far larger then the PC market which is why so many publishers are pressuring developers to aim primarily for the consoles when possible. Deus Ex is a FPS, FPS games as we've seen over the last few years have been aimed almost exclusively at consoles before PC. The only FPS games I can think of off-hand that are aimed primarily at the PC market are source engine games. Even Crytek have moved over to consoles now.
I'm not trying to turn this into a consoles vs PC flame war, I would never be on the console side. I was just trying to give the feeling from inside the industry at the moment from what I am hearing from any developers that are speaking to us. PC gaming is considered a niche market now for strategy, MMO and flight-sim games. If you need any proof then look at the difference in sales figures for MW2 on the 360 and on the PC.
Browser based games are great for the pc gaming industry sure but they aren't what we are talking about here which is the AAA games. Sadly the vast majority of them are coming out aimed at the console before the PC. In this thread I was merely pointing out why.
