Deus Ex 3 (AKA Deus Ex: Human Revolution) is PC only for now - rumour

Koala I believe the 100M is across all platforms. 16.8 million is on the PC alone.

I never tried to say that there isn't a market for PC games, I am relying on it as I would hate to end up developing games on consoles, PC gaming is the world I grew up in and what I've always wanted to develop games on.

There are a lot of areas where console games will never be able to take over from PC games, RTS games are one of them. Just look at how bad that RTS halo was on the 360.

I was simply pointing out that the console market is far larger then the PC market which is why so many publishers are pressuring developers to aim primarily for the consoles when possible. Deus Ex is a FPS, FPS games as we've seen over the last few years have been aimed almost exclusively at consoles before PC. The only FPS games I can think of off-hand that are aimed primarily at the PC market are source engine games. Even Crytek have moved over to consoles now.

I'm not trying to turn this into a consoles vs PC flame war, I would never be on the console side. I was just trying to give the feeling from inside the industry at the moment from what I am hearing from any developers that are speaking to us. PC gaming is considered a niche market now for strategy, MMO and flight-sim games. If you need any proof then look at the difference in sales figures for MW2 on the 360 and on the PC.

Browser based games are great for the pc gaming industry sure but they aren't what we are talking about here which is the AAA games. Sadly the vast majority of them are coming out aimed at the console before the PC. In this thread I was merely pointing out why.

Whilst I don't believe DX3 will be PC only (they'd be daft to limit their market, especially on a cross-platform engine),

It won't be, it just wounds like they are releasing the pc game then starting work on redoing menus, controls, balance etc for the consoles after release.

Rather than delaying the pc launch till the console version is ready.

But they ripped out something that is pretty much vital to pc Mp games.

That and the whole "we have no interest in games that cannot be exploited year on year" speech by their CEO confirming all their future games are going to be generic tat with a 100 sequels.

And then there's the "turning a $50 purchase into a $500 purchase" through the use of dlc and propitiatory controllers.

Lots of pcgamers see that sort of thing where as it never gets reported to the consolers.

Not to mention the pretty mediocre game play compared to the wealth of pc titles available for much less money.

Good new to say the least. The PC is not the problem. Surely Blizzard knows a few things for then to stick with the PC. They know that if your final product kicks ass, people will buy it. It's simple as that :)

Eidos Montreal, l have never prayed to you before, l have no tongue for it(in addition it would be absurd to pray to a game developer company). Grand me one request, grand me Deus Ex 3 only on the PC; and if you do not listen; then the hell with you :p

I hope that this is true, or, at the very least, it's PC focused and comes out on the PC first

The original (and by far the best) was PC first then later ported to the PlayStation 2. If it's ported later then fine - I don't want another disappointment like Invisible War!

Really looking forward to this and Mafia II at the moment

The Total War etc games indicate there's a market for primary and/or exclusive PC development.

I care far more that Deus Ex 3 has an engaging storyline than that it might be PC only. Still , if they want to push technical boundaries, the PC is the place to do it, at least until the next wave of consoles arrives.
