Hey there,

Have just purchased a Q6600 SLACR CPU which should be here in the next day or so, However i want to overclock this and i need to find a decent HSF, I have a antec 900 gaming case so room is not a issue and a ASUS P5KC motherboard. Budget is 30 quid for the cooler. I had a Arctic Cooling 7 HSF previously but didnt like the 4 plastic plugs that went thro the mobo to lock it in place, They are very easy to mangle, If i can i want a HSF that is screwed in place to a plate below the mobo. ANy suggestions?

should be enough to overclock a q6600 dont need to spend £30

Q6600s even the G0 SLACR stepping ones are not the coolest of running chips, remember they're 65nm.

The heatsink you've recommended would probably be fine for a mild overclock, say 3GHz, but I'd want something a little more substantial for a better clock.

You want to be at least looking for a cooler with a 120mm fan, The Gelid Tranquillo seems to be getting rave reviews at the moment, and it's a bargain at £23.99

Thanks for the responses, Dont mind spending more of my budget then less, The only pre requisites are it must be good enough for i5 or i7 cpu's later on and not have the plastic lock in fasteners that secure thro the mobo.
