I have just done something completely stupid - I got myself an XBox 360 Elite jasper model off a well known auction. I bid for fun and never expected to win it for just over 100 quid. It is brand new in the box, but has no controller and hdd.

The problem is I have never played any console games and have no intension to start. Don't really have any friends who do either.

Shall I just resell it or is there anything else I can do with it?

Hang on, you paid over £100 for an Xbox with no HDD and no controller? You can buy an Arcade model with a controller for £99 from the highstreet as advertised on the TV

Well tbh if you resold it, you probably wouldn't get the same money you paid for it. Without the hdd or pad, you may aswell get the arcade brand new with controller for sub £100.

Yeah but an arcade doesn't have HDMI nor can it support Wireless controllers (think) and is white.

It is going to cost another £100 to buy a controller and a 120GB HDD.

We can't really tell you what to do OP.

I personally don't consider spending a few hundred quid over 5 years so much to play the latest games. so I would keep it personally even if you hardly use it.

That's why I have a 360, PS3 and a PC. :D

but yeah you didn't get a good deal tbh. So keep it and cut your losses.

That's the older models. The new ones support wireless pads and have HDMI. I think the only difference is the colour and the HDD.

it does have HDMI and it does support wireless controllers. Where on earth did you hear otherwise?

Won't cost £100 for a hdd and controller. Can get controllers dirt cheap and hdds can be really cheap depending on size.

The going rate for an Xbox 360 Elite is £200 with a 120GB HDD, 1 Controller and 2 newish games. Based on that, I'd say an elite on it's own off Ebay would be worth about £60. Remember that the Arcade is £99 from a high-street shop and has the Controller.

Advert seems pretty bullet-proof, it mention's about the missing items a few times. Bit concerned about the "this has only just arrived in the UK" part. Not up on Xbox's so don't know if this would effect anything. £105+£14 isn't very good.

either sell it or start off buying the things you need to make it usable.

Off topic but I once won a guitar off ebay for a very low price, I never expected to win. It was a few years ago but I think I won it for £112 when they sold new for about £299 (2nd hand guitars sell for very similar prices to new guitars) I re-listed it about 3 days later and sold it for about £220. I went to meet the buyer with the guitar and was worried he would have seen my ebay history before meeting him or he might ask how long I had had it. It all worked out ok though. Lucky.

Dropped them an email. If they refuse to cancel the purchase I would get missing items and then see what i can do with it all.

It's something I've never personally done, but I'd rather take an unpaid item strike then pay for something I don't want which is a bit of a pup.
