Hi all, just gone from onboard audio via my 780i mobo to a used Xonar D2 and wow im impressed. Ive been missing out on loads for all this time. No more snap crackle and pop!! The purpose of the post is to find out if im getting the most from the card. All i did was install it download the latest drivers from Asus' site and away I went. If anybody out there can comment on how they have theres set up for the best performance I would be gratefull. I have it currently hooked up to a set of 5.1 logitech speakers and the sound I think is awesome, im seriously considering a 7.1 purchase now haha. Cheers

set the sample rate in both the Asus control panel and the windows sound properties to 96KHz - they don't sync on their own for some reason

There is the option of 24bit 192k whats that for??

You wont notice any real difference between 192k and 96k for normal usage in my opinion. Had this debate in uni the other week. Its mainly dependant on the speakers, positioning and acoustic environment to realise any real difference. It is however great for marketing if you run a studio though :) Just stay with 96k and save on the processing power.
