Uninsured car?

And if they do, you can still report it to the police and make them pay up, regardless of insurance.

Yeah, I'm sure that £10/m they'll have to pay me when they claim they can't afford it will make up for it.

Like I say, if you were hit by an uninsured driver, which you were already suspicious about but did nothing, you'd feel like a ****, right?

10/m  ? They can afford an Impreza, surely they have more than a tenner, in the worst case they'd sell it to make up for the damage ?
I mean, even on this forum in case of accidents, people often prefer to not let it go through insurance.

Yes, but I'd still get my money because I know who it was and it would be easy to prove if they continued to park near me ( paint from their car on mine).

You tell that to my Dad who suffered someone damaging his boat*, forced to follow it up civilly and is still receiving £10/m now.

All someone has to do to convince the court to allow them to make monthly payments is make up enough "necessary" outgoings to use up all their incomings - nothing is checked, they take you at your word.

You sound like an idealist, the world just doesn't work like that - if someone doesn't have insurance, do you really think they are going to pay up willingly if they hit someone else.

*boat parked on trailer, uninsured driver.

Oh noes, you broke a privacy law. I say you shop the POS uninsured driver.

Jesus, some people on here love to pretend they're divine. Chances are that he bought an old Impreza, realised that the insurance premium would be £4378 a year and thought "meh".

The irony of it is, whilst its dressed up like an STI, its actually an N/A Sport.

That's quite disgraceful :(. Guess I understand it more now why you hate un-insured drivers.

But, it may also be nothing:
''it could well have been bought and insured recently (explaining why it is not on the MID)''.

I think he would get caught soon if he drives it daily, hopefully anyways.
I still think people shouldn't do the police's work, but if I'd have been shafted with 10 per month for the damage I guess I'd think otherwise.

You can buy Impreza's for £1k? They obviously they can't afford an Impreza because they can't insure it either...

 I fail to see what relevance this has? Are you saying that we should all drive around uninsured because "most people" prefer not to go through insurance?

Wow, a tiny bit of paint transfer and the fact that someone with that colour car parks near you. Conclusive evidence indeed!

Is this thread for real? The askMID system is horribly inaccurate, my mother's old BMW is on there as insured - It was scrapped 8 years ago! For all you know the person could have just bought the car and could be waiting the several weeks for it to show up on the database (if it ever gets put on of course). Or they could have trade insurance. Or it could be driven under 'DOC' cover (grey area, I know).

And yes, you did break the Law when you ran a free check on a car that you do not own. There is no use trying to argue it.

Just grass him up, I've done it in the past and actually witnessed the car get removed from the street on a flat bed.

I don't need to argue it, nor am I trying to - its people like you on your high horses that keep bringing it up, I simply don't care.

Do you think the type of car determines if it's insured or not.

You would be quite surprised how many prestigious vehicles are uninsured on the roads.

Pass any ***** camp site then report back your findings as to what cars don their gates ;)

What?
You don't know if it's insured or not.
Yes they can afford an impreza, they can't afford the insurance, I fail to see what not paying the insurance has to do with being able to sell the car if needed, a car is suddenly worth only 1k because it's uninsured ?

No, I'm saying that it might or might not be such a big deal getting your money regardless whether he's isnured.

Again, what would insurance change about this matter ? You'd still need to prove it. I'm saying that regardless of insurance, as long as it is proven, you'll probably get some money ( unlike the OP's dad, but I think that's more exception than rule.).

Call your local police station and tell them. They will investigate and if found to be illegal they will remove it or take action. It could just be the database is incorrect and the car is perfectly legal.

High horse? You're the one moaning that you're going to report somebody simply because their registration plate doesn't show up on a website that you used illegally. There is no high horse involved on my end, just plainly pointing out hypocrisy :)
