Hello there, i'm looking to buy a satnav for the car with a budget of around 80quid.

Could anybody point me towards a half decent one, or any tips - thanks.

The best IMHO at that, or any, budget is the TomTom range, in this case the One.

But whatever you do, for god's sake don't forget to use Night Mode.. ;) :D

Everyone does seem to recommend TomToms, I guess they can't all be wrong. My dad takes a portable unit abroad with him when he has to drive hire cars, I believe he has quite an expensive Garmin unit, he seems quite pleased with that, I don't know what the cheaper ones are like though.

Yea I noticed you can buy an F&H 3.5" unit for about £55 now at various places, I assumed it'd be junk but I had a look online and it seems ok actually, especially given what it costs. is there some fatal flaw in it though ?

the only flaw as far as im concerned is the mount, it's just not as good as a tom tom. however the software is every bit as good as my gf's TT XL classic (literally)

+1

Excellent choice. I've still got to try iGO8 on it though :)

:)

I use a HP PDA installed with iGO and a Holux bluetooth GPS receiver.

Admittedly the whole thing takes a little longer to install in the car than a conventional All In One GPS unit but IMO the software is easier to use, much faster getting a sat signal and the tracking is faster and more accurate.

Not sure if you can buy an AIO unit with iGO preinstalled in this country but I can fully recommend it.

Garmin nuvi 200 here, had it for probably 2 years if not more, nice graphic, nice looking... well made little thing. ~£80 now, halfrauds often have it on offer
