Ive got a Sempron 3000 and a gig of RAM here- that seem like its enough?

I know theres minimum hardware spec but they are usually not realistic

Thanks

That should run it ok...

Microsoft’s minimum requirements for WHS are:

1GHz Pentium 3 or higher
512MB of RAM
70GB of storage space
100 Mbps Ethernet card

Read that the actual recommended requirements for WHS are:

Pentium 4, AMD x64, or newer processor – prefer 64 bit processor even though WHS is 32 bit for now
512MB of RAM
At least two internal hard drives with 300GB of primary (system) hard drive space
100 Mbps or faster Ethernet

I'm using an Intel Celeron (dual core) E3200 (2.4GHz) with 2GB OCZ PC2-6400 ram on an Asus P5Q EM (which came out of an Asus V2-P5G45), with 1 x 750GB (also primary HDD), 1 x 1TB and 2 x 1.5TB HDDs...

Pretty helpful article Here on it, also see Here Here and Here...

2Ghz Celeron (dual core)
2GB ram
1 TB primary disk
(1 TB backup disk in external caddie - to be brought soon. Currently backing up to 320GB disk)

AMD X2 6000+
2Gb DDR2
5 x 1Tb hard drives
SLI Motherboard (For running 8 port SAS/SATA card and a gfx card)
Intel PRO/1000 PCI-E card.
The onboard Gb port is crap. Sound and everything else is disabled.

The X2 6000+ is from when I used to fold on it as well. I also rip my DVD's down to H.264 format so the processor helps!

Intel Atom 330 board
1Gb RAM
1x 500Gb drive (OS)
1x 1Tb drive

I'm probably going to have to add a PCI HDD controller to add another 1TB drive soon as it's getting full.

I ran mine for a year on a PIII / 450 MHz + 512MB memory / 140GB (80 + 60 GB) with no probs - CPU speed / mem size not a problem.

Don't have it anymore but the spec was

Intel Core 2 Duo E2160
2GB RAM
1 x 160GB HD for OS
2 x 320GB HDs for Data RAID1

Most custom WHS run on low spec hardware, just keep in mind if you think you may want to upgrade to WHSv2 you'll need a 64bit cpu at least.

CPU: AMD X2 4200+ 2.10Ghz
RAM: 2GB

Does anyone know when WHS v2 is coming out? I'm running the evaluation copy of WHS at the moment but was about to purchase the full version, is it worth waiting?

HP EX490

Upgraded to an e6300 and 4 x 1.5tb drives with an external 1tb on the eSata for backups.

Runs nice and quiet and does everything i could ask of it :)
