Me and a friend are taking a day trip to London on the 23rd tue from Bristol, my plan is to park at heathrow and take underground to London, the parking is around £50 but I will defo get a space and avoid driving in London, is that plan ok or is there a better alternative please? Thank you guys

That's probably the worst plan I've ever heard.

It will cost you £30 to park just off oxford street for 24 hours. Add congestion charge on top of that and it's still cheaper! Why on earth do you want to park further out, for more money, and more hassle?!

Personally, I wouldn't do that either. There are places you can park for free, but I can't be much use in west london where you're coming from.

Why not take the train from Bristol? No need to drive and will almost certainly work out cheaper than driving...

It's a direct service to paddington and you may even be able to squeeze first class in each, you'd be stupid not to tbh.

So you're going to take your car all the way TO London, but not use it IN London?

Why not just use public transport all the way?

I think you can fly from Bristol Airport to Gatwick for about £10 if you get a good deal. I love wasting energy and that is the way I would do it.

You could probably park IN London for £50! What a boneheaded idea, £50 to park at Heathrow then its over an hour on the tube to London!

Cars and a day in London dont mix, you are far far better off getting the train from Bristol.

I drive from Suffolk when I know the trains will not run late enough. £30 to park at the Victoria NCP which is right behind the Police Station. First time was a bit stressful, especially when my dated sat nav got all wigged out by the tall buildings. Learn the route first and give it a go. Driving down the embankment into parliament square is awesome. And at night you go all "look, pretty lights".

This is the best advice, though you will need coins to cover £1.80 an hour, from 9-5pm.

The most it is going to cost is £14.40.

Take the M4 all the way into London, go over the Hammersmith Flyover. When you get over it take the first left by Hammersmith College and do a U-turn. Go straight over the lights into Barons Court. Plenty of street parking there for the above price and you are in Zone 2. Piccadilly and District Line station on the right after you do the U-turn and go over the lights. Easy as anything when you want to go home as well.

You will come up Talgarth Road, left into Gliddon, u-turn, straight over the main road, past Barons Court station on the right, park anywhere, get ticket. Sorted.

Ill let you park on my drive for £25 and u can get a 1 day travel card each for £7 ish

It also means going on a coach, I think I'd rather pay 50 quid and park at Heathrow

Train or car.

they really aren't that bad since national express has updated their fleet. Apart from travel time. Really little difference from train, comfort wise.

Trouble is at this late stage a train is going to be £80+ each. If it was 3+ weeks out then train is by far the best option especially with fares as low as £20.

Well a standard return is £46 and a standard single there and 1st return can be had for around the same price at the moment. :p

Just a standard super advanced return. The site doesn't seem to be loading at the moment but eastcoast.co.uk was showing that price last night. :)

It's a pretty standard price tbh, it's only a 2 hour journey and a 6 hour journey on the same ticket through london (admittedly with a YPRC) is only £60
