Subaru Cosworth...! What the hell..?

Thanks for that... you're almost as bad as matttheman.

That article doesn't really give us any information other than we will have to wait until March for more info.

I'd assume it comes with a forged engine with internals supplied by Cosworth. Even at the moment you do see a lot of Imprezas with Cosworth pistons.

I'm guessing the engine will be similar spec to the Cosworth unit in the Litchfield Type 20? Maybe detuned a bit to ~350BHP?

whats the problem? ford sold the cosworth company years ago but kept the name.
i beleive that cosworth had something to do with the vauxhall redtop 4 pots from the early 90s (very good engines) i think vw own the company now and i think they worked on the 24v vr6 engines

^ What he said. Subarus with Cosworth engines have been available for years, just not from Subaru directly.

This

the litchfield Type 25 used a cosworth block. Designed to mimic the standard subaru 2.5 boxer four, just stronger for more horsepower.

Review of the Litchfield / Powerstation Type 25

Given cosworth engineering have been making tuning parts fo subaru for years. its not as suprising as some would think.

So what subaru is basically saying is, their own tuning arm STI, is not good enough to produce a hot version of the impreza.

Erm. Yes, otherwise they would not need help from a third company.

So I take it Mercedes think the same about AMG then? After all they got Cosworth to make the 190E engine.

What about BMW selling Alpina models?

Stupid argument.
