Hi guys,

Am thinking about upgrading my 8800gt card, for something in a mid-range (ie. not to pricey and quite good), which one do you think would be good ?

I don't really see the point upgrading from a 8800gt to 5770
My GT runs all my games at max setting.:p
I would wait untill the higher cards drop in price!

i game at 1680x1050
And my card plays bioshock 2 all maxed setting with V-sync on and my fps is 60fps but does drop to 40 then back upto 60.
So for me,whats the point in upgrading yet lol

Most I would be spending is about £70-150. So do you guys not reckon it is worth it yet ?

I want to play AVP when it comes out. I am on Intel core 2 duo 2.6 ghz and I've got 4 gb ram.

Which bring us back to the consideration of speed vs features...

5770 support DirectX 11, runs cooler and consume less power
4890 got no support for DirectX 11, but it's faster but run a bit hotter and consume more power

Both are around the £110-130 mark.

Also, can you give the actual model of your CPU (i.e. E4700, E5300, E7300), as well as of your motherboard? We can have a look to see if there's any room for overclocking your CPU faster.

Both my lads upgraded to 5770's from 8800GT's and both game at 1680x1050 and their very happy with the 5770, it's a great upgrade from a 8800GT and it's new tech unlike the 4890. No point in going backwards or sidewards, go forwards and get the 5770 ;)

I am on E6750, and the mobo is an abit IP35E.

Been googling round a bit and reading some reviews and discussion; your motherboard seem like a decent enough board for overclocking and your E6750 should be able to reach at least 3.2GHz easily enough.

Refer to Zeraphine's post (2nd post) of the below topic if you are not sure how to overclock:

As long as you are not upping the Vcore like a mad man (to like 1.5V and beyond), you should not be at any risk of frying your CPU...but of course, you should nonetheless keep an eye on the CPU temperture.

I can also say that my 8800GT, which is on par performance wise with an 8800Ultra is not at this point in time causing me bad frames in any of my games, I'm also running BC2, whilst having the same frames as GTX 260's, but i know that is due 7to the Graphics Optimization...

However i still would love to upgrade to a 5770...
