I'd use the plural but I cant back that up with any proof of what's right.

There is that bit in Peep Show where Jez say "6 gigs, 100 quid a gig, you do the math" and Mark just looks at him and says "mathSSS"

I'd use Maths personally.

Edit:

Wiki seems to agree...

In English, the noun mathematics takes singular verb forms. It is often shortened to math in English-speaking North America, or maths in other English-speaking regions.

You do the math - it's a single piece of calculation, whereas in this context you're referring to it as a whole, therefore maths :)

it is Math

technically it is math as it is short for mathematics.

but you can use maths cause no one speaks proper english anymore

Or grammar it would seem......

It's obviously Maths by the way :)

In Britain, it's Maths.

'you do the math' isn't originally a British saying is it, just one some people have taken on by watching too much Friends, I'd imagine.

Wrong. It's Maths because it's short for MATHematicS.

I suppose one could argue that the word in "mathematic equation" could be a "math equation". However the word "Mathematics" as a stand alone, is and can only be "Maths" when shortened.

So: apeZ, groen, Hairybudda, Talon are wrong. :p

Please note I did not stipulate this as "FACT".

It has to be "I'm good at maths" should you wish to make the claim. People will understand you either way of course but it is an Americanism and therefore I'd avoid it in normal speech.
