Im trying to decide who to fly with for a one way ticket back to the UK from Bangkok. Flight must be direct, cost is not an issue but I will be flying economy.

Out of the 3 above which would you choose and why?

Ive never flown with Quantas so have no experience of them.

Ive flown with BA several times and have encountered delays, they were average.

I have flown with Eva once and they were very good. Great food, personal entertainment in the seat and lovely air hostesses.

If you have had such a good experience with Eva, go with them again. QA are like BA from my experiences which have varied from terrible to good.

Qantas are just BA with a spotless safety record. The major Asian airlines have always had that little bit extra in my experience. Emirates in particular have been my favourite for some time.

I would normally fly Emirates but I dont want to make any stops.
I might try Qantas and if they are any good I will use them in April when I go from Uk to Perth.
Whats the inflight entertainment like on Qantas?

On the 744's it's almost identical to BA I think (you might be on a BA plane as they code share). If your lucky though you'll be on one of the A380's that Qantas have started operating. THey have some amazing new fangled in flight entertainment systems even in economy. Lokk pretty impressive from youtube.

Probably reason enough to go with Qantas actually!

I've flown loads with BA & Qantas and they are pretty similar imo , I know lots of people say they're both really bad but apart from a few slight delays I found them ok. I've also flown Emirates a lot of times and I really don't see much of a difference between them all apart from slighly better meals from Emirates

Qantas dont fly from BKK do they? They go via Singapore?

Qantas and BA Codeshare on the Sydney>London route so you've a 50/50 chance of a BA or a Qantas plane whichever one of the two you pick. Neither are brilliant.

You are better off with the Asian airlines like Singapore, Malaysia or Cathay Pacific but I think you'll need a change in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Hong Kong for that.

I'd rather walk than fly BA. If you've flown with an airline you like, just go for it. Singapore airlines are brilliant though.

X 2

Flew with BA & Qantas in Dec/Jan recently. BA were abysmal, poor customer service from pretty much arriving at our first aiport to landing at our last. Surly, unattentive staff who apart from one or two people had really bad attitude problems. If someone farts in the wrong direction the flight will be cancelled or delayed.

Qantas were far better, staff were happy to help, if you asked for one drink they brought an extra just in case. In flight entertainment selection was bigger than BA. The cabins of the plane were also more up to date than BA's threadbare offerings.

If you do go Qantas, make sure you ring up a few days before hand and see if you can upgrade to business class for a small fee, they may accomodate you. If not, ask again when you check in if there are any free upgrades available as a single guy on his own is more likely to get an upgrade than a couple/familly.

They did this time last year, I flew direct to BKK with them. Think the flight was continuing onto Sydney. I flew out of Singapore a couple of months later with Qantas again which went direct to Melbourne.

Perhaps they go via Bangkok to Sydney and via Singapore to Melbourne? Or maybe they just mix and match when they fancy!

I've gone right off BA after my last trip was canned due to the ongoing disputes, however prior to that i've always had good service from them on business class and 1st class flights.

Good service on First Class flights? Fancy that, given its about £5k a ticket.

Think if your budget extends to first class air travel its time that Passat went in the bin :p

Just checked Qantas. They fly 747's from Bangkok. Think I will give that a miss then as Im not a fan of the seating arrangements and space you get in economy on 747's.

That really is airline specific, though. I flew 747 from London to Kuala Lumpur with Malaysia and had absolutely bags of space - 34 inch seat pitch.

Is there a way of finding out seat pitch on specific airlines?
Im also considering flying with Thai Air.
