Hi people, could someone spec me GFX card that is as good as or bette than a GeForce 7600. As my current card is about 4 years old, it shouldn't be too much to get one as good as that, will it? I don't need anything fancy, just for things like photoshop, world of warcraft, and just normal bits and bobs. Thanks! My budget is - cheap.

It really depends on your budget m8, and how long do you want to keep that card for.

While second hand GFX might be a good deal i would personally stay away from second hand, but thats me.

Which res do you game at?

have a look at these

They might be over your budget, but since you had your old card for 4 years, i presume you would want to use new one for a good while too. I would not limit myself with something thats really cheap, it will get slower and slower with new games coming out, i am sure you will want to play more than just wow, get yourself some head room :)

All above are Ati cards, I don`t pay too much attention to Nvidia, but i am sure others will be able to suggest decent Nvidia card.

Don't think 4650 would be able to handle WOW too well...

The following are similiar performance and prices:
ATI4770/Nvidia9800GT (around £70-75)
ATI4850/NvidiaGTS250 (around £80-85)

Can my PC cope with these cards?

Athlon 2.0ghz 3200+
400w PSU
1gb giel dual chan 3200
Asus A8N-E
I think you definitely need a whole new PC if you want it to be able to handle modern gaming...

Back then my 8800GTS got bottlenecked big time by my Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2GHz. For today's gaming, even the old Athlon 64 X2 are considered as too slow...

The 4670 will be much faster than your current/old card. Your motherboard has PCI-E so you should be fine on that front.

edit: WoW will run on most machines but it can get demanding in busy area's- raiding/battlegrounds or cities. I ran it on a Athlon 2400XP 1GB ram and Geforce2 Pro(from ~1999/2000) for a few years! Ironforge 'lag' was terrible lol!

You'll be fine solo grinding, but if you do go on raid in a large group, I would suspect it would be jerkiness nightmare with a single-core...

But putting that aside...I doubt you would see much improvement for upgrading your graphic card but not your CPU together with it. I was once like you...thinking I would see huge boost in performance upgrading from a X1600XT to 8800GTS on my Athlon 64 3500+ back then, but even playing CCS, I was still getting relatively low frame rate. It was only until I upgraded to Q6600 that I finally able to see the 8800GTS shining as it should.

I'm not forcing you to upgrade your CPU, but just thought you should know this and at least take it into consideration. In my opinion I think you should upgrade your CPU alongside the graphic card, if not, you'd better off just stick with your current rig.
