Dr Dre SOLO BEATS

You don't need to agree, there are plenty of people who swear that Skullcandy sound great.

It's not that bad lol  Each to their own etc I agree upon, I just do think these sound excellent. Now if I were using them for quiet relaxed Orchestra/strings, then no I would not use them. I use mine for training (running long distances etc) and travel (airports/planes) - so the music I listen to requires something that gets the full dynamic range of sound, very much including the bass. No I'm not a 'bass junkie' or anything, but this often gets looked over for more classic music. Just nice to have a set of headphones that ticks all the boxes for me.

My brother got a pair of the Dr Dre studio headphones...bloody expensive as about a week ago i posted a thread asking if anyone could find them cheaper...managed to get a pair for £220.

Anyhow very nice headphones...not sure about the price tag but they look and sound superb...sure he could have got a pair Senns for cheaper but honestly they do look the part.

Ive used them with my ipod touch and although the bass is a bit overpowering...the headphones are very good...so much so that ive bought a pair as well...should have them by today.

The look of headphones are always important, especially as you can't see them at all when your listening to them.

Priorities? ;)

Well they look much better than the Senns thats for sure;)...sure we get it Mr Audiophile Ad that you dont think highly of these headphones...heck for the price they were going for i didnt think they were worth it but after listening to them for a few hrs...i think they are probably the best sounding headphones ive had the pleasure of putting my ears through.

Plus a lot of review sites that i looked at rated them very highly....but ignoring the review sites i thought they were absolutely brilliant in all honesty.

I'mnot audiophile. Horrbile word used to describe music freaks who spend their whole life assessing strands of cables, ceramic risers, and pebbles to make the music as realistic as possible :p

I was just pointing out how you made out in your post how important the looks are and they 'look the part'. Just strikes me as a womanly thing to do, a bit like when they choose a brand new £19k car because it looks cute. But I do walk around with the weird looking HD25 on :D:D:D

Well each to their own isnt it??...i like the looks of them and also the fact that they perform pretty well compared to other headphones...i wouldnt be caught dead with any of the Senns on my head as they do look weird;). Looks and performance for me go hand in hand...hell at the moment im using skullcandy in ear cheapo headphones:eek: but they have performed admirably for a pair of £10 headphones.

Listened to them to see what they were about.

IMO they are very poor compared to what you can get for the same money.

for the money no they dont lol. i know i said they were good but they dont compare to £200's worth of grado or sennheiser.

whats weird about them? senn use probably the most understated designs around. you couldnt get more 'headphone' unless you want a more old skool design....like a grado

I know for sure than for £200~ I'd certainly be looking at HD600 as a minimum class headphone, not a headphone that lacks prestine clarity!

This.

I think you have the hd555. I still use those for general youtube and movie watching when the other half asleep.

HD600 is just a more refined, and detailed version of those.

There is a night and day different between the beats and most "audiophile" headphones in the same price range.

If you want bass the ulstrasone 900 own the beats as do the denon d2000 IMO.

Just from customers using them, they simply snap above the little metal insert on the head band. The record so far is 4 hours a pair lasted.

Ahh right...mine seem pretty well built...have been using them today and had them folded up into my coat pocket and they seem pretty sturdy...but them after spending over £200 on them i wouldnt treat them badly...usually with expensive stuff i do tend to take care of them.

Fugly as hell mate...those headphones arent at all nice looking in any way shape or form.

And for the money i think they are outstanding...they arent as bassy as i thought they would be and do an excellent job of noise cancelling outside sounds.

Anyhow awesome pair of headphones imho;)....maybe you lot wont or wouldnt spend that much on a pair of headphones but i think they are pretty awesome in all honesty....not at all disappointed in them.

I'd probably agree that you can get better sound for your money.

However, I got mine for just over £200 and have been very pleased. For me, they produce a very nice sound and I certainly don't resent spending that money.

I would love to try out some other headphones in that price bracket, but I wouldn't go back on buying my beats.

i own a pair of hd650's.

Its not a matter of how much people want to spend. The general consensus from people who have tried the monster phones is that they are over priced for what you get.

If its form over function which influences your preference well thats another thing entirely.

Most of the stax phones are ugly as hell, but sound just simply amazing. Audiophile cans arent designed to be worn on the train or in the gym.

Higher end audiophile headphones require a very good source and amplication to really shine.

You will never get experience the higher end sennheisers fulfilling their potential from listening to them at currys.
