There was a thread about taking pictures of cars a couple of days ago, thought I'd post these up from the darkest depths of my hard drive. Pics are a couple of years old now, just thought I'd share after reading the other thread.
Whilst the end result isn't perfect by any means, hopefully you guys might be inspired to bodge some kind of a mount for your camera and get some cool rolling shots
The test subjects. Neither are mine unfortunately.
Setup. 1x camera tripod. Lots of string. Wedge tripod into holes on car. Tie it all together. SIMPLES!
Unedited shot. Excuse the dust.
Edited shot. Just noticed my dodgy cloning on the bumper... Oh well.
Things to take into consideration are...
You need a superwide to get the whole car in. This shot was taken on a 10-20mm at the wide end.
The farther you can get away from your car the better, to decrease the distortion. I was limited by the length of my tripod. Ho ho ho....
Get someone to push the car, don't drive it. Vibrations are reduced...
Use Mirror lockup and self timer to reduce vibrations again. A remote would be pretty handy, as would live view if you've got a fancy dslr
(I dont
)
I walked in front of the car with my hands underneath the camera whilst my mate pushed! Didn't trust the mount... It doesn't need to be pushed fast, walking pace is enough.
Have fun! If any of you guys have any rig shots then post them up!
