Anyone any good recommendations for any classic kung-fu movies? Recently watched the Jackie Chan classics Dunken Master and Young Master and in the mood for some more. Definately liking the Jackie Chan stuff so anything with a few laughs thrown in would be good, I prefer subtitles to dubbing but if it's really well dubbed is ok.

Police Story 1+2
Armor of god 1+2
Rumble in the Bronx
First Strike
Who am I

Theres loads, i used to love Jackie Chan movies when i was young, i do find that some of his old ones have better stunts and fighting.

Project A and Meals On Wheels spring immediately to mind apart from those that Master_X has suggested. My Lucky Stars may also be worth a watch. Shogun Assassin I found quite funny but I don't believe it is meant to be a comedy.

Rumble in the Bronx

How anyone can recommend this abortion of a film is beyond me :p

The highlight is watching Danny getting battered in a comical manner. No idea why its as funny as it is, but it is.

Snake in the Eagle's Shadow is the obvious omission so far as it's the spiritual prequel to Drunken Master.

The dubbed versions of both Snake in the Eagle's Shadow and Drunken Master are particularly fabulous :p

Police Story is one of my favourite films.

Aside from Jackie Chan, if you are dipping into this genre, you really need to see "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin" and "Return to the 36 Chambers" with Gordon Liu.

Brilliant yet corny stuff.

The project A films are defo on the list to check out, think i saw them on skyplayer box office for rental. have to check out some of these on my day off tomorrow.

The copy of drunken master I have has some dodgy audio sections, it slips between chinese with subtitles and english dubbing a few times and audio goes a bit funny.

will have to check out those Shaolin/36 chambers ones as well, I will probably have heard a lot of quotes from those in Wu-tang tracks i imagine.

Ong Bak 1 is a good call

Blood & Bone wasn't too bad for a fight movie but I am guessing it's not what you are looking for.

Yeah I wont write off any modern ones, Ong-bak was good if i'm remembering it right, House of flying daggers was totally awesome, an instant classic. Haven't seen much Jet Li stuff since Romeo Must Die, the only one I can think of is 'The One' which I didn't think that much of due to some annoyingly cheesy bits and some bad music choices for the soundtrack, I've heard good things about Danny the Dog from somewhere else though actually so maybe will give it a watch.

If you liked House Of Flying Daggers then I'd highly recommend Fearless, Jet Li's last martial arts "epic" and a simply brilliant film. I only didn't recommend it before as it doesn't have such a strong comedic element as many Jackie Chan films.

fist of legend i think is Jet lees best movie by far
anything from Bruce Lee is good also if you can stand the wooden acting

How about Donnie Yen.
Flashpiont
SPL (not sure you can get this one over here)
Dragon Tiger gate
Ip man

or Wu Jing
Fatal contact

and Jet Li
Once upon a time in china series
and fist of legend (a remake of fist of fury) i think you can only get dubbed version here.

If your gonna get fist of legend try and get the original subbed hong kong version but doubt its on blu ray.
Also the prodigal son is my favourite old school kung fu movie definately worth a watch.

Once Upon a Time In China (Jet Li)

I highly recommend Warrior King/The Protector with Tony Jaa (Ong Bak). The fighting scenes are fantastic.
