What do you think of the Asus GTX260 MATRIX 896MB?

A stock 260/216 core, and a 5770 are both in the same ballpark for performance, the biggest difference is the 5xxx support DX11, but that comes at a performance hit, so we're still really looking at DX9 and DX10 performance imho.

Its all down to price really, get the cheapest one :P. Personally I have had less driver issues with Nvidia cards, but then if NV are struggling to get fermi out, and have almost no stock left of G200/G200b.. or anything else who's to know what NV's future holds.

Yeh, you see that really is the only reason to switch from Nvidia to ATI as the 5 series support DX11, but as you say, that comes with a disadvantage to the overall performance...

This card new is £150 but i have seen an offer for 110, and is 1 month old... It most deffently looks pretty sick too, and is going to be a big upgrade from my 8800GT OC...

It's a bit to last gen for me...
Probably won't be able to keep the card very long, before you end up longing for some DX11 goodness.

Edit:
5770 if you need a card now.
5830 if you can wait a bit longer
5850 if you can push your budget
5870 if you want the best

Clock the t*** off it and you're close to 5850 performance.

5770 isn't as quick as a stock GTX 260, furthermore 260's are renowned for their overclocking potential.

This 260 I'm using is marginally quicker than my OC'd GTX 280 was, I'm guessing that ASUS version will clock even higher.

You'd have to clock it damn far.

My gtx280 at slightly higher clocks than in sig is still 300 points behind a 5850 in Vantage.

Edit: I know vantage isn't the be all and end all but I haven't come across someone with a PC similar enough to mine to make a direct comparison of game frame rates.

Thanks for the comments guys :) Am getting very close to buying this, if i can get the moneys together...

Go for it if its £110, the £90 premium for a 5850 isn't really worth it if you're overclocking. DX11 is in its infancy, I can't even tell the difference between DX9 and DX11 in Dirt2 apart from the framerate takes a massive hit and that was with my 5870.

Only other option would be to wait and see what price the 5830s come out as. They could well be GTX 285 performance for £150~
