12 Year Old Arrested..

Hang her  doesn't she know how much care, effort and pride went into crafting those school desks just so that people could get an education?

If QI is anything to go by, those desks were probably crafted by one of the millions of americans in the prison system's forced labour schemes, after being put away for 25 years for stealing a cookie.

bah she got off lightly.
she is lucky she didnt get tasered then forced into the showers with the arresting police officer first.

As someone who works in a school (IT admin) i can understand the frustration. This kid might be painted as an 'angel' who doddled an innocent sentence on a desk. However there might be a history of bad behaviour especially at that age and being in the inner city. In my experience, parents don't care, teachers (whom i am no ally of btw, they are as annoying to me) are always blamed for their childrens shortcomings and their kids are total angels who are misunderstood. There must be more to this story than is being reported by the media, whom never seem to give educators a fair break and have no idea how evil children, especially teens can be.

I once got detention for "unsportsman like conduct" after shoulder checking my PE teacher into touch while playing rugby during a lesson. It didn't help that I asked how he "liked them apples" at the time either though.

A massively underused phrase, good on you :D

To all those people saying she got off lightly: what would suggest as an adequate punishment if she had done it to your car? Or your front door? And how would you propose to enforce that punishment?

50 years hard labour then execution by suffocation up an elephants rear end

She would be fixed into a harness and lowered into the paedophile pen, Jurassic Park style.

I couldn't agree more, no doubt there is more to it than that. If not though, then I would say it was a bit of an over-reaction, but it's a lot better than letting her think there are no consequences for damaging someone else’s property.

Just look at the sort of thing kids here get up to, where often there really are no real consequences! ...cracking down hard on silly little things like this could go a long way towards not creating a society full of kids that do whatever the hell they like because ...nothing happens if they do.

However, for a first offence, I think a good talking to by the head teacher and a detention would have done it. I doubt this was her first though, not for them to react like that.
