What brought you to OcUK?

I was building my first pc and stumbled across Ocuk through Google.

Was a long time surfer then signed up.

Argh the new OCUK is the other side of Stoke to me - Is not a bit too far to just go and fetch something.

I browsed the forums a few times and signed up eventually.

I was buying from the shop online a few times before noticing the forums. I liked the idea of the shop close to home and with staff who knew why hacing CAS2 (iirc) memory on an amd64 socket 939 was better than CAS4. You try and ask that to a muppet at PC World!

The forum community also likes cars and posts news links on topics that are what I would look at, so it is more than just the computers.

Now, even at 21, I cannot think of any other good hardware websites. i am sure there are 100s of good ones, but I have never felt the need to look.

From the service I have had at ocuk (such as Andy testing and swapping a faulty motherboard for me in under 24 hours) I have a level of trust that I get a fair service at a fair price, in a similar way that if a small indy garage is good to you then you want to go back to them next time.

Aside from OCUK, companies these days don't give a flying **** about after sales service/care and having to rma my TV via a huge UK electrical store gave me nothing but grief.

I blame Dave18, we both worked together at the time and he was constantly on OcUK forums when he should have been working - so I decided to join him :p

lived within a few miles of the store (no delivery costs for the win!) .... until they moved.

first heard about it when my geforce 2 died. pc world did a sale with a fx5700 LE going for 50 quid. my sisters boyfriend took one look at it and dragged me down here, where i could get the non le version for 50quid. by them i d figured that le stood for light edition, so it was a bit of a no brainer. my interest in building pcs started right there and i have stuck with OCUK since. Tried to join the forums because i heard about the loyal members getting free shipping to find that i had already signed up last year some time and clearly forgot about it...

just about everything in my current rig bar cpu and mb is from OC

Registered so that I could use the search, had been reading a while before.

Think my first post was about an AV issue (slideshows etc) for my grandma's funeral..

Friend used to post on here, told me about it. Signed up as I was in the market for a new PC.
Never ended up building my own PC but stuck around for the banter.

I bought some kit a number of years ago and noticed a forum link. Soon got hooked on the folding@home as well as overclocking. But these days I just browse the sports and general sections.

Think I wanted to mod my Abit NF7-S board, so got the advice of putting paperclip through a few holes in the cpu socket holes :D

Very scary times, but yea stayed for GD, home cinema and the gaming forums

started out repairing peoples pc's so frequently came across problems i need more info on, i always found my way back to hear so decided to register and keep reading.

I was the first person through Millennium Computers doors (Overclockers) and used to go in the shop about 3 times a week at least.
I can't remember when exactly but I had a question that Pete (former owner) couldn't really answer and he said go on the forums and ask.
I went on the forums, used a competitors name and got suspended within about 3 posts.
After 2 days I asked the same question again and got suspended for a week :)

Thanks for the rofl :D

Same as some other people, bought some parts, noticed the forum button, lurked and registered shortly after.

I was introduced to computer forums by my ex after he got me into building pcs. I only joined OcUK when OCS disappeared, before that I'd always thought these forums were too big and moved too quickly.

I was lured by DanTheMan - This used to be his account but I pretty much took over it so he just gave me this account (As I had the most posts) and he made his own.

I joined because I heard from a friend that there was this AWESOME porn group you got invited to when you hit 1000 posts.

Then I hit 1000 posts.

Then 1100 posts :(

Still hoping.

I was recommended to come here for some tips on putting together my computer, by a guy who used to be a member a while back. Used Cool_Chip as his forum name or something like that. Bought a few things from the shop too, prices are pretty good.
