Hey everyone,
I have an Antec 1200. It has dust filters for the intake fans, but a noticeable amount of dust still gets in. The PSU sits at the bottom of the case and it itself also has an intake fan, so is sucking in the dust that's coming in.

What can I do to prevent this and what can I do to clear out the dust in the PSU?

LOL@ tights, total ghetto mod. Its a good, outside of the box idea though ill give you that

I have the antec 1200 and I know this issue all too well. All I do is keep on top of the cleaning rituals, compressed air sorts out the dust in the psu in no time

Will a hair blow dryer do?

Yes, with the pc on (preferably running Prime95) set the dryer to maximun heat and leave at an intake for half an hour, should sort out your dust issues! Dont try this

Dust filters and compressed air should sort it, love the tights mod though!

:D

Well I used a hair blow dryer and there was definitely a lot more dust in the PSU than in any other component or part of the case! I had to back away lest I lose myself in the fog (ok maybe not)

If you are concerned about the dust you could clean it by putting it in a sink of warm water.

seriously im not joking.......

rinse it out, leave it to dry out in an airing cupboad for a few weeks. It would be advisable to unplug it first if you do this...

This was in a PC format mag a few years ago...

I expect it would void your warrenty some what though
