Currently running an NV 8400GS 256 and an looking for a little boost so I can still dabbling with some PC games.

I'm looking to budget up to about £70. I also want it not so suck too much power as my PC is always on.

Any ideas?

One of these I would say:

HD4670 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-184-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1274 Great power consumption on these cards :)

HD5570 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-226-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1699 even better power consumption, and with DX11 features.. you pay for the premium though

EDIT: Originally suggested the GT 240 at this point instead, because I forgot the 5670..
HD5670 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=701&catid=56&subid=1673 some more juice than the other cards, better power consumption at idle than the 4670..even more expensive though..

HD4770 - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-133-XF&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1434 strongest performer on this list, but at the cost of power consumption

Can you post the rest of your rig? may give a better idea of what to suggest :)

I agree. 4770 would be the one with the highest frame rate out of the sub £80 range.

But you'd probably save more money and be able to get better performing card if buying 2nd hands. Think you get 2nd hand 9800GT/8800GTX/4850/4870 at between £40-£60.

The problem with better performing graphic cards is that they tend to consume more power, unless you are getting cards like 5750/5770 which reduce power consumption significantly...but those cards however are priced at the range of the £85-£120 mark...

Will that offer a noticable increase of what I have already got?
5570 compare to 8400? No you won't. They are both not full fudge gaming cards. If you are intented on gaming (as in FPS games, not Sim City or RTS games etc), you have to get 4770 or 9600GT/9600GSO/8800GT/9800GT as bare minimum to get reasonable amount of frame rate for FPS gamings...

If you try to cut corner on the card you are getting, you'd only be disappointed when you can doing some gaming...

Like I said, if budget is a problem, consider 2nd hand gaming cards instead.

Ok, there's a point in here. You won't be playing the most modern games at full settings with a 5570. I might choose a 4770 myself, but if the power consumption's a big issue then..

(EDIT: darn ninja :p)

I have been looking into a new card and one problem that I can see is that I use a "green" 80plus 350W PSU. I have read that some card require additional power to help it along.

Will 4770/9600GT/9600GSO/8800GT/9800GT be too beefy for my PSU?

The more I look into this the more I'm thinking that I should overhaul the complete system

After talking to the nice man @ OC sales I opted for a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5670 - mainly due to power usage and price.

I will be building a proper gaming rig in the next few months.
