No Sense Of Smell Or Taste :(

Hey guys i know we are not supposed to ask medical questions, but im not sure if this counts or not! I have pretty bad man flu as i did just over a year ago and both times i have lost all sense of smell and taste! I seriously can not taste or smell anything as made evident at last new years eve party when my mate filled a can of Strongbow with p**s and i drank it not even knowing... till the next day! Does any one else get this? Last time it lasted for 2 weeks and i really hope it doesn't stick around that long again

I imagine most people get these symptoms along with the flu.

I can't give you any advice, but I can tell you that had your sense of smell and taste been intact, you wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between Strongbow and urine anyway!

On a side note I believe there was a woman with a brain tumor who completely lost her sense of taste. That must be pretty bad. :\

I'm not sure if that's normal but if you're in any doubt I'd suggest you see your doctor.

However as for your mate supplementing your can of Strongbow - classy guy. I'd definitely be getting anyone back who was stupid enough to try that with me.

Yea, you can lose your sense of smell/taste with a bad cold (your nose is a significant part of taste too), but it can also be indicative of serious things too. If it's a cold, "be moar alpha", if you're worried, see a doctor.

If on the other hand you're some sort of android, and your nose is infact a PCB, then OcUK is the place to come

If anyone did that to me - I'd get them back so bad they would 100% consider not doing it next time

Your mate wants knocking out first of all. Secondly don't worry too much. I had the flu last year and lost my sense of smell like the flick of a switch, one minute I could the smell the next I couldn't :confused:

It came back when I got better though.

Welcome to my world, I permanently have no sense of smell or taste. Its called anosmia and there is no cure. It's only when friends have colds or other bugs, that they say to me "now I know how you feel"

Most food tastes like nothing to me, and I can drink gone off milk and not know it.

Because that's the kind of stuff we do to each other! At the rugby club last year when the french came over on tour i drank a pint of my own urine and it was worth it just to see 2 frenchys puke all over there new tour bus as it was taking us all into town!
