I am in season 2014-15 in fm 2010 and loving it! I am Celtic and have one the league every season so far and the highlight being in the champions league final against Arsenal (lost 3-0!). I was a bit worried at first but once i got used with the new layout i was hooked.
Was told I have to start posting here again 
Started a game with Fulham, and added our new signings (Okaka, Shorey, Buchtmann) and also the ones we released/agreed to sell etc.
A lot of them are future signings, which have been loaned out/reserved.
The last three releases were a panic release, to get the money to buy Shorey before his loan deal expired
Ended up winning the EURO Cup (luckily), and finished in 6th round in FA Cup, and 3rd in the League Cup, and a respectable 9th in the League;

Going into the next season I have sold/released quite a few, and spent quite a bit of money (got a £32m budget);
Highlighted were all paid for last season, and Obasi, Defour and Rakitic are all paid over 48 months, so that's why their prices are high.

You got Salvio for pretty cheap. I had to pay about £7-8m in my 1st season, so pretty much blew my whole transfer budget. Turned out to be brilliant player for me although he was a late bloomer in my game.
Since you just started the season, you should buy Iker Munain (something like that) of Atl. Madrid. Snapped him up for free and got him to shadow Torres and turned him into a world beater.

Still can't get Toulalan to work. Darron Gibson on the other hand is filling in for the injured Anderson (hamstring 
) and is touching 8.00 ratings. 
Recently changed Rooney from a deep lying forward on support to deep lying forward on attack and he's gone from scoring goals every few games to scoring 1 or 2 a game on average.
Aguero is brilliant; worth £52m but I'll try to get him cheaper on my 10.3 game, when the patch is out. He'll take the ball off an opposition player or get it passed to him just on the edge of the 6 yard box, run around a bit, jink past a defender, or two or three, calmly run at goal and shoot a nice placed shot in. He scores so much, and so reliably in this fashion, I winced when I saw what his goal bonus was.
Rio is now 32 and has lost a bit of pace recently. Still performing well but no longer the defender he was. Going to try and find myself a new DC in the summer so that I can play Vidic, Evans, new DC and Rio with Rio being used less and less. Craig Cathcart is OK for me but looks to be backup to be kept for reserve action or sent out on loan with a recall option if he's needed. Will try for Chiellini but if I don't have the cash then a fellow FMer has found a decent looking DLC who looks to be a slightly younger and not quite as good version of Chiellini. Salvatore Bocchetti at Genoa is the guy.

What are you trying to play Toulalan as? Oh yes and Bocchetti is awesome. One of many insanely good defenders that Genoa have.

In the DMC position, to the left though, and on defensive midfielder defend. He just doesn't seem to do much and Carrick, Fletcher, Hargreaves and Gibson are all doing much better than he is.
Think I need to have a squad clear out at the end of the season. Won't renew contracts for Giggs, Scholes and Neville so that'll save me exactly £46k a week. Obertan is decent but Obertan, Nani, Valencia, Tosic, Vargas and Ashley Young is way too many. Obertan has the lowest workrate and teamwork ratings of the wingers so he might go. I just need to work out the weakest players in each area and try and get rid of them to get me some transfer money as a bonus to whatever the board give me as well as try to keep the squad to 25 players. Didn't realise that was coming until I found that out on FM10.

Has anyone had any luck using Modric?
I'm trying him on right wing and I've tried Inside Forward (which I usually use with Albin and Sanchez) right winger and Advanced Playmaker and he just gets sub 7.0 performances every time

Have you tried that spreadsheet I found? It helps but doesn't give you the full answer I would say. It said to use Rooney as a deep lying forward on support, as did peeps in the Utd thread over on SI Games' forum. Rooney was OK here but rarely scored. I tried him on deep lying forward on attack and he suddenly went goal crazy and his scoring rate now matches that of Dzeko, Berba and Aguero.
The spreadsheet had deep lying forward attack as the second best option for Rooney. I also find that tinkering with individual instructions also helps a lot as some of my players don't use their best attributes if I put them onto what appears to be their best role. Owen Hargreaves works best as a defensive midfielder on defend but the crossing, for which he has 17, isn't highlighted so I have to up that myself.

anyone have any issues regarding generation of new players. i'm on 2013/2014 with Brentford in the Championship. Just had a look at most expensive players under the age of 20 - out of the top 100ish, one is Scottish and one is English - the others are French/German/Italian/Spanish. Doesn't bode well for the English team in ten years time - or the home grown players rule...
anyone else have this problem? worth noting i don't have the patch installed as i don't have an internet connection at home. is this problem solved at all if i install the new patch to the existing game? or are British players going to be non-existant in 10 years (game) time?

I was looking at him for the January window as a rotation with Messi (only got Pedro as a back-up). I'll let you know.

Mama mia! That utterly spanks his figures for me in my 2nd season of the game. 23 goals from 22 starts and 6 sub appearances.
What are you doing with him that I'm not? I play him as a complete forward and have the ball played to him on his head.Either new contracts at Madrid and Barca respectively thus new, lower minimum release fees or he unsettled them by praising them or something.

With Messi I declared interest, said I wanted to sign him etc. He responded saying he was flattered and would be interested in playing for me or something like that
I started making offers starting at something stupid like £25M, kept upping it slightly till I got to about £35M, then Barcelona negotiated it to £43M + 50% of next sale profit
Ronaldo was easier than that, he was unhappy, I did the same offer low and keep moving up tactic till I hit £40M + 50% of next profit and the Real Madrid board intervened and accepted it
Madrid are doing terribly in my game, they haven't made the champions league this season lol

Compete Forward with no target man instructions, most of his goals come from either the ball being played into Rossi who's dropped deeper, then he turns and plays an exquisite through ball, or a cross from Sanchez or Albin.

How are you making Rossi drop deeper? Positioning him on the pitch in the AMC position and make him run from deep often?
