On a bike, can you cover the plate with your hand?
Depends on the bike but I wouldn't fancy hanging on with one hand hand leaning right back whilst breaking the speed limit anyway. Your foot on the other hand...

It's nothing to do with the plod its the council.
Which one? The road crosses between Cheshire East and Derbyshire. I'd guess at Cheshire East, as that's where the 50 limit starts...
Could just as easily be Derbyshire, there's "Speed limit enforced by aircraft" signs up near me![]()
It's a collaboration between both council bodies.

a fantastic road and in my opinion given it's notoriety as a biker run, i'm surprised it lasted so long without one. a lot of accidents and given the terrain when you crash if you leave the road you WILL be seriously injured. A shame but not unexpected. More expected than the roads they put cameras on which suffer 1 fatality a year!
But this isn't just "a" camera, its an entire two-way specs system.
I don't know of another single carriageway, cross-country, A-road that has specs. It's the beginning of the end.

The A52 between grantham and nottingham does, and has had for years...
The best corners on the C&F need BIG balls to do more than 50-60mph through anyway.
On a bike, or in the wet, yes. In a decent handling car, no.
There are only a handful that require you to slow to 35-40.
True, but then I've got a pair of contact patches the size of credit cardsSo you should be able to get round the corners quicker, takes a lot less skill in a car though
