Goodbye to one of the best drives in Cheshire (A537 Cat & Fiddle)

im more considerate than that cyanide, if i get it wrong in the middle of the night, itll just be me and my car going into a field

you, i, everyone knows bikers have no will to live.

Ah, excellent, I had no idea that I have no will to live! I'm glad you're on this forum so I had an opportunity to discover this fact.

I had always thought that I commute 60 miles, daily by motorcycle (for the last 15 years, year-round, rain or shine) because it's the most suitable, cost effective and time-efficient way for me to get to and from work.

Anyway, thanks for the info. I guess I should go and wheelie off the nearest bridge to prove that your statement wasn't an utter sweeping generalisation.

Might as well do it it the middle of the day tbh, doesn't matter if you hit a biker as we all want to die anyway

Biking is an awesome hobby/way to get around ruined by some utter idiots that give all bikers a bad name. I know a few bikers, and trust them all to be sensible and not kill themselves through their own stupidity, but equally I've been coming back from Land Rover trails in my '54 Series 1, running drums all round, which are full of mud (they get cleaned at the first jet wash I pass :) ) and running on aggressive pattern mud tyres, only to find a biker coming the other way in my lane on a blind bend, and some overtaking me on my amble home on blind crests and the like, how am I meant to dodge a bike in a series 1? Luckily I have thus far, long may that luck continue :)

These guys are in the minority from what I can tell, possibly because they're a dying species.

I think we should all take after the Italians and get a good handling small car with a tiny engine that's awesome in the twisties but incapable of breaking the speed limit in the straights :p

This all comes from a non biker

It's amazing how many owners of supercars suffer from really poor numberplate screws, often they have to carry their front plates behind the drivers seat, well you do that when they keep 'falling' off.

bikers with no will to live clearly cause the issues

we all know how well specs works with bikes

which again leads me to beleive specs is just a big scam (ie doesnt actually work)

This is my take on it too. I have had a fair few bikes pass me at speed on the M25 in the last 2 weeks in the specs sections.

The specs cameras will have no effect on bikers, yet I would put money on the vast majority of deaths on this section of road being due to motorcycle accidents.

This is another case of the minority spolinig it for the majority.
Aren't the majority the ones actually sticking to the speed limit driving down a road they happen to find themselves on to get from A to B?

Also, is "celebrated driving road" a euphemism for "ritually break the speed limit on"?

Never driven it, but seen it on Fifth Gear and the like.

What's next? Gatsos at Silverstone?
Pretty sure Silverstone is a racetrack, they don't tend to have speed limits on those. You couldn't have picked a worse example for your "what next?" point tbh.

If the local plod wanted to prove this was about safety and not revenue, these cameras would issue points, but no fine.

It's nothing to do with the plod its the council.

Interestingly in 97 the London Met Commisioner said he was against Speed Cameras as it would turn people against the police.

I have read that the cameras going up there will be a new breed of SPECS which will have cameras specifically to target bikers. I think I read this in the MCN in december but cannot find a source.

You can easily hold above 50 round most of the bends, and when it was an NSL, I regularly used to.

Another great route decimated by cash generation......... :(

Its an interesting drive with a heavily loaded truck, thats for sure! :o:D

Double post. :o
