PIN number(s). Forget them from time to time?

Forgetting your PIN eh?

Not using it enough :p

I know my 14 character alphanumeric code for my library card and the 4 digit PIN for it despite not having used it for two years.

But although I'm certain I can't forget it, it can get corrupted in my thoughts if I'm interrupted while it is being held in active memory - for example thinking through a PIN in the queue and while doing so you hear some other numbers being spoken.

Sometimes the long term memory of the code you want can't be recalled until the corrupted version in active memory is completely forgotten otherwise it keeps blocking the one you wish to recall. Going to sleep generally works for me.

Best not to try and think of a memorised number until the moment you need to use it ^_^

Not usually but I forgot mine the other week, same pin for years then all of a sudden poof it's gone from my mind, something must have pushed it out.

"Oh, and how is "education" supposed to make me feel smarter?
Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old
stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home wine-
making course and I forgot how to drive?"

I only occasionally can't remember the PIN for the credit card I use for work expenses, as I use it fairly infrequently.

However, I've got the number cunningly hidden as part of the phone number of a contact in my mobile phone.

As for my other PINs, not forgotten them.

I too know the full details of my most-used card(s), so I can make transactions without even needing the card in front of me... that's bad at times, as it makes impulse buys on the internet all the more easy!

Is it really that frustrating? Do you say the HIV virus (human immunodeficiency virus virus

) or the HIV (which makes you sound like a hick)?

I just, don't say either of them, never comes up in my general conversations.

I had this when I went for a curry.

The lass had to pay, felt like a right pillock. Couldnt for the life of me remeber what it was :D

My memory is pretty good - I can remember all my details even though I rarely am called upon to recite them. It's handy if I forget my card/am on another computer. :)

Remember the pattern, not the numbers.

If necessary, change it to a more memorable pattern.

This, except occasionally I have a mental block and get the starting point wrong and then wonder why the pattern doesn't work. :D

Occasionally I also do 'right PIN, wrong card' tricks too. :)

Ask me for my NI number though and I can rattle it off with barely a thought. Same goes for main bank account number and sort code. I always have to get the bank cards out to use the long number, however.

We have a door with a keypad lock at work, I must go through it 50 times a day - yet still sometimes I end up walking up and staring blank faced at the pad

Nope cant say ive forgotten my PIN numbers for all my cards as they are all the same:p.

But when it comes to passwords...geez i cant remember them for the life of me...the worst ones are the visa verified pages where you have to put your password in...ive lost count how many times ive locked my account out.

I try and stay away from those visa verified pages when buying stuff now online.

I just get a new password pretty much every time. It only takes a few seconds. Which says a lot for how much extra security the system adds.
