BAFTA Nominations

I'm not saying it was a bad film, it wasn't. I very much enjoyed it, I went to see it 3 times.

I just think if you remove the 3D gimmick, the film was lacking. I thought District 9 looked as good as this in normal 2D, and had a much better storyline / acting :)

If you're deciding on the best film, you don't just go on "it made lots of money" or "it looks stunning", there is much more to films. I full expect this to clean up in regards to sound / effects awards, but as far as best film goes? no.

No I know but what I'm saying is - take away the 3D and the fact it made lots of money - I feel it was worthy of the award :(

You've just reminded me actually - I've still not seen District 9... Might have to give it a watch over :D

I didn't, I thought if you took away the 3D gimmick and the fact it made a lot of money, it was good, it still looks nice, but it's just ... it's a great shame the rest of the film wasn't on par with the CGI / looks the film had. So much potentional (sp), the story line has being done before, and better, the acting was alright, the writting was okay... nothing worthy of winning best film.

The Oscars might be different, I never rated Titanic as highly as (seems like everyone else) but that won a tonne of awards, This is an American film as well.. :/

Go watch District 9, I had the pleasure of seeing it at the cinema a couple of times, and have it on DVD. It's brilliant.

I think anyone who genuinely belives the Hurt Locker is a good film should check out generation kill to see a much more involving and compelling look at the iraq/middle east conflicts.

Yes it's a mini series, but i my opinion two or three episodes of generation kill are far better than the Hurt Locker in every aspect.

I've seen GK as well, and while I agree with you on it being excellent you can't really compare it to a film due to the constraints on running time.
