Walked into Tescos last night...

You should have just whipped a keyboard out of your jacket and floored him with it :D

On a serious note though, it wasn't because you're black, people who have their hoodies up while inside need talking to anyway.

I don't actually see your point tbh, you seem to be implying that the only reason he asked you to remove your hood was because you are black, and that this made you feel like you wanted to punch his lights out?

Did you stick around to see if he asked other people to remove their hoods? No, you just assumed he was picking you out because you're a large black man.

Nice. Guess who I think is the real ******* in this story.

I've been using Tescos for decades and have never known this to be store policy.

srsly? Haven't you heard of the stereotype for hoodies? Incase you didn't know, people relate it to thugs because it's used to hide someones face when they have caused/or are about to cause mischief, there's no need to go into a store with your hood still on, simple as that.

It has nothing to do with the fact you're black.

It's not just Tesco, no supermarket wants their customers to wear any clothing that covers them from view, or the cameras in store will be useless.

Walking into a business in retail covering yourself is the same as holding up a sign to say "I'm covering up for a reason", doesn't matter if that reason is that your cold or if you're going to steal something, you're still provoking the staff to come to their own conclusions.

Even if it wasn't store policy, and it is in my local Tesco, it's just plain common sense.

I've been asked to remove my hood before, and I'm a 5'11 thin(ish) white guy. It means nothing, it simply makes sense for security.

well done che guevara, revolution!

do you ride your scooter through the local shopping centre too? walk on the grass where it says "do not stand on the grass"? Play ballgames when it specifically asks you not to?

christ i get called a chink every other day of the week where i live and you don't see me kicking up a fuss about it!

Good for you. I've also been called far worse and walked away because I felt it was prudent to do so.
