Walked into Tescos last night...

They say that to everyone in my local Tesco wearing a hood, I don't see a problem other than when people like you refuse to remove it?

Try a crash helmet or a balaclava next time. Oh and wear a rucksack if you really want to scare the security guard (who earns minimum wage)

*slow claps*

Have fun throwing your toys out of the pram did you?

Time to take your head out of your backside and join the real-world I think OP.

Your question doesn't make sense.

of course it does. you said statistically shoppers dont steal. and what about those that do wear hoods? even further, what about that that refuse to take them off? do you not think that those people are statistically far more likely to cause trouble?

Sorry, you were quoting stats - i assumed you know what those stats were.

I said that most shoppers do not steal and that statistics bear this out. I didn't say shoppers never steal.

Also you'd be hard pressed to find evidence that people who wear hooded tops commit more crime than those who don't.

True, I'm not quoting sources here because I'm not sure we're at that level of debate. This is a public forum not a peer reviewed journal.

Yeah you don't fit the stereotype at all.

...and call yourself Mike Gunnz?

Someone at your age, surely should know it was rude to not comply with the security guard? He is there to do you a favour, not boost your confidence?

Why do you think I threw my toys out of my pram?

I live in the real world. As a social worker I see more of the 'real world' than most.

This. Your size and skin colour had nothing to do with it.
Most shops have a big sign saying all hoods/helmets have to be removed on entry.

I've seen "no crash helmets" signs in some banks, but thats about it. I'll certainly keep an eye out for them in the future, but can honestly say I rarely see them in shops.

I don't get why people wear a hood in a store.

I didn't make a conscious decision to walk in with my hood up. I only popped in to get some fags.

Although many on here seem to think that I did and that I did it to cause a confrontation and/or to massage my sense of victimhood.

Take your bloody hood down in future, the guy's only doing his job and you're not doing yourself any favours be reinforcing any perseved prejudices anyway.

But oh wait, I'll never understand will I because I'm not black.

You threw your toys out because you got in a hump because you felt some chap was profiling you. I've got news for you chap, if you're going into any shop at that time of night with your hood up - regardless of skin-colour - you're going to attract undue attention. It's just how it is. If you came into a shop I was managing with your hood up, I'd ask you to take it down. It doesn't mean I think you are dodgey, but it's a matter of course so the CCTV can pick you up. It's not one rule for you because of your colour and one rule for everyone else. That's not how equality works, remember?

If you truly live in the same world as the rest of us, you'll understand that taking your hood down has absolutely no bearing on your dignity and every bit on shop security. I take my hood down as a matter of courtesy when I go into shops so I won't get harassed in the first place. And yes, I'm not black but being a young bloke I raise eyebrows too. Stop trying to play the race-card. At the moment, you've lost face because you've cried wolf and you've been called on it.

How are shops ever supposed to prosecute if they only ever have circumstantial evidence of someone with their face and head covered? Hoods have to come down so CCTV can see your face. It's a sensible store-policy, not a deliberate slight on you.

As I said, pull that head of yours out. You should know better.

At my age?? Why should anyone comply with a request which is unreasonable, discriminatory and arbitrary? I wasn't being rude, I smiled at him and politely refused to take my hood off, then left without a murmur after I'd paid for my goods.

And I don't mean 'discriminatory' in the racial context.

okay, next question... What was Unreasonable, discriminatory about being asked to take down your hood??

as a social worker with your attitude? are you teaching kids to have this attitude?

Do you tell your clients to not listen to store security too?
