So i had a small slide in the snow yesterday and knocked down a 'cast iron effect' plastic bollard owned by the highways agency.

Luckily or unfortunately, whichever way you want to look at it, there was a police car following behind so the highways agency have been informed about it.

Therefore, i'll either get an invoice from the highways agency or they will send it through my insurance.

Has anybody done this before and know how much it might be?

!

Thats an idea. Send back their invoice for the damage with a counter invoice for exactly 1 penny more than their bollard for not gritting.

I got a stainless steel bollard 168 dia supplied and fitted inc 4 anchor and fixing plate for £600 today. So i would imagine less than that

Prolly get billed for the item, the time for someone to inspect it, time for replacing it, etc. :S

That's what I figured. I'll be amased if I get change out of £500. The bollards themselves seem to be around £100, guess it depends what else they lump on top.

erm I'm going to suggest it will probably cost more than that. They will go through your insurance. If I remember tomorrow I will try and ask the girls at work who deal with claims.

Mates insurance was done for 1600 quid for a street sign pole during the winter, either by Haringey or Enfield scumcil (forgot which one) according to him.

Its council so the sky is the limit, coupled with insurance and the sky is the limit x 2 so expect over 1k with ease. They spend about quarter of a million quid putting up a bus shelter so go figure.

they spent a few million doing a road i live on and it looks pretty much the same as it did, nothing like the artists impressions they posted through our letter box

all the tarmac is cracked already aswell so i guess they used ***** tarmac

Whoever runs Bounds Green should be shot, they've made roads narrower at the ends to stop 'speeding' traffic and making drivers pay more attention. Erm, all it does is cause congestion as only single vehicles can exit or enter at a time or both drivers are driving superminis. The amount of kerbing gouges on the sidewalk (sharp edged and raised high too) tyre grazes, odd bits of car and hubcaps i see floating about make me mad, never hit it myself but it could happen if someone decides to keep coming and forces me to one side.

My sister got billed after being hit by someone for knocking down a lamppost (well - damaging it) and got billed £500. I thought that was quite cheap for a lamppost. :p

I knocked down a wood telegraph pole once, and it disconnected a house for a few weeks!

The police and ambulance etc attended but I never got billed and managed to keep my NCB. Very lucky! My car wasn't so lucky. RIP GTI6.
