Why do most people forget the most important part when speccing a new build?

Well, the answer was always going to be an OS but I don't think that people forget about it, I think it's just taken for granted that you will be installing one and if you wanted help picking one you would say so.

I never forget about an OS, I don't think any true PC builder would tbh; thermal paste?, maybe, a FDD (when we needed one)?, maybe, an OS?, no chance. :)

Windows 7 OEM Home Premium) is around £80 so not a cheap thing to be leaving out

Find student mate, offer to send him some cool emails. Use students email to get it for £30 quid. Laugh.

Home edition is just fine the stuff in premium isnt really necessary.

No, no, he's right.

Haven't you seen all the threads of epic facepalm as people get their £600-1000 pc built and realise they forgot to buy/download/crack an OS to go in it?

The reason many people do not mention an OS is because they have no intention of using a legit copy.

Back when I was in school and 6th form at least half of the lads I knew had a disk off a mate.
