Ran driver sweeper and installed the new 10.2 drivers. Games have occaisonal lockups - non responsive mouse, and Vantage crashes completely. :( Does anyone have any ideas ?
System spec below.

A lot have people have found that previously stable overclocks don't work with the 58xx series. I don't think anyone knows why either.

Definitely worth trying it at stock though.

Tried the manual and windows uninstall first. Wouldn't run at all, black screen. Booted into safe mode and used the driver cleaner to uninstall.
Downloaded 10.2 install from AMD and then it worked - albeit with the problem above. Has anyone else had similar issues ?

EDIT: The god news is that the machine is now running 2-3C cooler than it did with the 4890 vapor x

All i can recommend is a clean reinstall of windows in that case sorry never had anything like that when i went from my 4870X2 to the 5870 it was all very smooth.

Thanks - I've not had to do a re-install for years. I assume boot from DVD and then I have an option to re-install over the top without losing all my other data ?

Format C: and re-install ?
Seems a big response, but I may do that. Irritating to have to re-do all the apps and Steam games. Even with backup it's a days work.

You say you have not done a clean install for years, but your sig shows you have an I7 rig!
Did you not do a clean install on this rig??? if not... then it is Well recommended as there will be crap from your previous build that could cause problems.

I should clarify - I've not done a format re-install ontop of an existing system. The build meant a clean install on an empty disk.
