I Hate Car Insurance

Same happened to us this year with Bell on the MINI. Renewal letter asking for £2500. £1000 more than last years cover  needless to say we didn't renew with Bell this year.

Eugh. Got the fun of all this in the next few weeks. I wonder if any classic companies will beat bells quote for a 18 year old with an accident to his name. (£624! fully comp!)

I'm a big fan of Admiral / Elephant

Each year I get a lower renewal price than previous year (as expected), then they match quote I find on the net

I must be the only person in the world who's insurance company offers them the same/better price than they would if I were a new customer.

They seem to treat me with a decent amount of respect, probably because I insure multiple vehicles with them.

FWIW, I pay far less than that for two cars.

Nope, I get this as well: premiums have dropped three years running. That might not mean much to youngsters, but I'm way past the point where age is a factor. I had to kick them (Keith Michaels) a little the year before last, but last year they reduced without prompting.

As someone else said above, when my renewal comes round from Elephant I find it incredibly hard to beat it. A simple call to the customer service team always yields pleasant results too - I called up to cancel the roadside assistance with them when renewing, so they took that off and it reduced my overall premium but then she agreed to snip another £20 off what was already the most competitive quote for me. I thought it was odd, but still, good for me.

Bell did exactly the same with me, with a similar increase over a competitive quote. Called to say I had renewed. They even updated Elephants system so I didn't have to send my proof of NCB.

Contrary to what I used to believe, car insurance here in the UK is actually excellent value for money compared to elsewhere.

I love car insurance at the moment ....

£530 on a clio trophy at 22 with a tiny excess and guaranteed no claims protection

:D

Direct Line's renewal quote on my Cefiro was cheaper than the lowest quote I could get on their website. The website quotes didn't even have the brakes and alloys declared.
