Contact Lenses

Personally i use monthly ones that you leave in.

Only problem i have is if abit of dope gets smoke or i'm playing a computer game (intense staring at the screen) in the evening it can make your eyes quite tired and dry.

I think daily disposables would be best for you as you can see pretty well anyway so when you get abit tired you can take em out and chuck em away.

I/m quite blind so i can't really take mine out :(

I also switched because there was a rumour of a problem with the cleaning solution used for most monthlies and that it could damage your eyes. Don't know how much truth there ever was in that.

It doesn't sound very plausible, in my case there was a guy I worked with who wore monthlys for years and then got an infection and told if he wore contacts again it would likely make him blind in that eye. At that point I switched to dailys as its just not worth messing with your eyes. Will go for laser surgery in a few years anyway probably.

When I first got lenses it took me ages to put them in, but you soon get used to it. Like D1ngd0ng said, I think I will go for laser eye surgery when I am old enough. Know someone who had it done and they really recommend it.

Always preferred glasses to contacts, but contacts are invaluable for so many things. Like sports, wearing sunglasses in the summer, riding a motoribike, and even just socialising, it's so much easier not to have to wear glasses sometimes. I always found glasses more comfortable than contacts, and had several pairs so I can change them a bit. Until I got older and realised that I didn't really care as long as I could see things properly! :p

I started using some specsavers daily disposables yesterday. I find it time consuming to put them in in the morning. But l should get used to that soon. They can become irritating after several hours and towards the end of the day I find, and mine arn't as good as glasses at long distance vision which is annoying.

Won't take long and you'll be able to whack them in very quickly, like putting your glasses on in slow motion really.

I had this too for the first few weeks so I restricted myself to about 6 hours max wearing a day (now I probably wear them for too long!). Not putting them in immediately after you wake up helped a little too.

Yeah, like other people said, you get used to them after a few weeks, it will takes you seconds to put them in. The main problem I had with dailies was trying to determine if the lens was inverted as I couldn't really tell until it was in my eye. With monthlies the cleaning container keeps the correct orientation so I don't have to worry about it. It may have been because I didn't have a very strong prescription and the lenses were thinner.

Daysoft do daily lenses for £10 a month odd. They're ok, not as good as Johnson 1day Acuvue's but I my eyes are prone to drying out. I know others who are perfectly fine with Daysoft lenses.

Same as. I am thinking of getting some Contacts just for occasional use. I don't have the bottle to do what you did with the surgery yet.

Risk taking isn't the problem...hobbies such as mine demand it, but its my eyesight...

I tried the contacts that stay in for a month at a time, but couldnt get on with them. I just want a pair I can shove in when I'm Jumping or Boarding instead of the prescription googles I use.

Worse thing is when you try to come in for a hook landing and your contacts have flown out of your eyes mid jump. Wearing glasses when skydiving, or doing more dangerous sports is also not feasible. I was also kidding about laser being risky, it really isn't. :)
