How reliable are the Sony PlayStation 3 Slim Console (250GB Model)?

Dunno if the slims are different but ps3 rarely go wrong, think most common thing is the laser.

And year 1 year warranty.

Had mine for 2 days, seems fine so far *touches wood*.

And 1 year warranty, but Sony might do out-of-warranty repairs if you persist. That, or sell it towards the end of the year and get a new one!

I paid an extra few quid with my slim to get 2-year warranty which is worth it imho just to be safe but I may never need to get it fixed.

I have the 120 gig slim now, after my 60 gig one packed up, and other than a larger hard drive; I’m pretty sure they’re the same hardware…

Personally I don’t think it is as reliable as the fat version, I’ve had far too many times where this slim has failed to power off, resulting in me having to pull the cable out the back, it’s hard locked a couple of times also; but that could just be the game.

I’d still recommend it though, if you already have a 360, a PS3 is just as much as a must-have, if only for the exclusives.

my 40g ps3 original model broke after 6 months, they sent a reconditioned to factory settings model out within 2 days with a new year warranty. and i recently bought a new slim ps3, silent had it for 4 months or so, no problems yet.

Hi,
Thanks for all the replies:) If I pay the £131 and my old Playstation 3 fixed/replaced, will I get an new extended warranty with it? I'm worried that if I pay the £131 now and the PS3 breaks down next year will I have to pay another £131 to get it fixed?

Also- what are the refurbished PS3 like? Sony said on the phone that they had been tested and had new parts. Will they be like new?
