No-one can truthfully answer because the beta wasn't optimised and didn't have all the high textures in, so there's no indication of how the performance will be at retail, if all goes well and it's optimised properly, then you will be able to yeah.

Karkand hasn't been confirmed yet has it? I know it was only a rumour....but can't find any confirmation unless anyone else can say otherwise?

Rumour is that it's 1 of the maps from the map-pack which is released on the first day of retail, no official source but we'll soon see.

I have the same specs almost, except I have a GTX 280 and my 920 is @ 4 GHZ.

At 1920 x 1200 with all settings maxed in game I suffer from frame rate droppages during combat. If I turn off horizon based ambient occulsion or whatever it's called (HBAO?) then I can play it fine :) - so with a 5850 then you'd be able to play it maxed easy.

Yeah, HBAO filters were majorly stuffed up in the beta, in retail they've fixed them apparently.

Good to know. On a 4.3 e8600 and GTX280, I could max it out, but had to choose between 2xAA or HBAO. Hopefully in the retail release I can have both :)

I couldn't actually see any difference with HBAO, any comparison pictures about? Normally I have a sharp eye when it comes to graphical differences but I couldn't ascertain it in the beta.

It's hard to see on the snowy maps, I guess it's more of the lighting effects which come through tree's on the jungle maps which give it a sense of realism in the lighting on the environment, and softer shadows on the foliage of the floor.

Look at objects that are placed near walls and other objects, they should cast very subtle, soft shadows near where they meet. It's essentially a form of dynamic shadow, but takes into account ambient light rather than just direct sources of light.

Quite a few games use similiar techniques (mainly SSAO) such as Crysis and Stalker: Clearsky & Call of Pripiyat.

In general, it gives a greater sense of depth and positioning to objects in the gameworld, but I doubt you'd notice it in a multiplayer gaming environment such as BC2.
