Hopefully Fermi will put Ati back into the "we can do as good for less" situation it was with the 4xxx series. Really no matter which team you prefer, having the Green team back in the game has got to be good for the industry and the consumer.

It'll be interesting to see what the 5890 does price wise... whether ATI will knock the 5850, 5870, down a bit or place it above the current 5870 price... it could end up at both the same price and performance position as Fermi :S

It could but I doubt it, Ati has more margin to play with, and will no doubt want to increase % market share.

To get that extra 15% all you need to do is overclock the standard 5970 to 5870 clocks. This is probably all ATI will do if this 5890 is ever released.

Doesn't RV870 have some redundancy that could be utilised as yields improve. Obviously clock speeds will increase as the process is improved on.

The funny thing is that if the 470 does have a 20% increase over a 5870 and the 5890 has about a 15% increase, there could be a nice little price war on between the 2 cards.
