So, anyone going this year? I was there 2 years ago but that was in my pre-DSLR days so I didn't really take much notice of any deals etc going on.

If I remember there were a few stands that were selling lenses/accessories, however I don't know if the prices were competitive or if they will be this year. I was thinking I may buy a macro lens or possibly a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 or similar, maybe even the Tokina 11-16mm but I guess it all depends on the prices.

i plan on going n it will be my first time too. Used to use 35mm film slr and got into dslr last nov so im interested, hope that its well represented by the manufacturers as well as trade.

I have 3 tickets for all days ... but dont think i am going to make any of them :( .... im hoping apon hope that i can get there on the last day..not been before, is it worth it?

I wouldn't see any particular reason why the deals would be much better just because they're at a show.

Well you never know, I'm holding off any lens purchases until I at least go and take a look and even if its not the cheapest I'm hoping I can at least have a play with a few lenses, my local Jessops etc don't carry a lot of stock.

It depends what you are interested in, as I recall 2 years ago it was mainly trade stalls selling services like prints/canvas etc with a few of the usual big names like Nikon/Canon/Hasselblad etc showing off their latest kit. I can't say I would want to personally spend more than a couple of hours there but then I'm just a hobby photographer and most of the stalls aren't particularly aimed at me. I'm going to take a look at a few of the Nikon compatible lenses hopefully, they have stalls selling bags/tripods etc as well.

I'll be there on Tuesday and Wednesday. Will be there for work though, but if anyone fancies meeting up then give me a shout. :)

I'm only able to go on the Sunday, will you have a stall or something or are you going to look around?

And plenty of reasons why they wouldn't - cost of stand, transport & accomodation, extra staff costs, etc. We've looked at trade shows for our sector and you've got to sell a huge amount to get your costs back, let alone make a profit.

I might go on the Monday, possibly Tuesday, just to have a look around. I'm considering a new high-end AIO printer so would like a look at the latest models.

Going to look around & do research etc for work. Main think I want to look at are the Broncolor Scoro power packs, but annoyingly it doesn't look like Bron have a stall. Hopefully one of the lighting retailers will stock Bron kit. Also want to see a lot of the workshops, especially the DSLR video workflow ones, as this is something that is getting a lot of interest at work.

First time at the show today, was quite impressed by the amount of stands, especially the Canon one. Was quite temped to buy a few bits and bobs but I can get them cheaper on the net without carrying them around all day! Would recommend going if you have never been before.

Any chance, you could price up a Gitzo GT5541LS for me on your rounds :).

I could get someone to pick it up for me on Wed,.... looking at spending £500-550, cheers

I also went today and as someone who is relatively new to photography i found it an excellent show. I found everyone i spoke to (and i spoke to a lot of people!) extremely informative and helpful (particularly the Manfrotto and Canon guys) and the workshops very good. Personally i really liked getting to grips with the current Canon cameras and lenses. I'm very attached to my 450D and at the moment couldn't afford to upgrade but at least i know what i'm aiming for now! :D
